I have a sailplane with a Hitec Flash 5 TX and 555 5 channel Rcvr. Ailerons plugged into ch1, Elevator plugged into ch 2, Batt into ch 3, Rudder into Ch 4 and Flaps into Ch 5. For some reason, the flaps move with the ailerons. If I unplug the flaps, they do not move with the ailerons, so with this and visual inspection, I am sure that there is not a mechanical coupling between the two. Does anyone have a solution to uncouple the flap servos from actuating when the ailerons actuate? Thanks in advance.

Try the battery plugged in ch 5 and the flaps plugged in to channel 3 (throttle channel).
You may have a mix set up that is causing the issue, but I am not familiar with the Flash 5 TX.

The Flash 5 manual is one of the poorer. but it's your only hope.
Plug and play until it works.
Somewhere in the acro and glider mode instructions is the answer.
I use channel 5 to point a camera, and the v-tail mix, without any interaction between the two.

Flash 5X is listed here:

Manual is here

Sounds like you have a mix enabled for ailerons in 1 and 5 for flapperons/spoilerons
Flaps in 3 puts them on the throttle stick which works nicely.
This comes from the feature list at Hitec.
3 Pre-Set Mixes, Aileron-Rudder, Elevon, V-Tail
Flaperon Capable (ailerons would be in 1&5)
Proportional Flaps using Throttle Stick - I don't see that there is a fliap/elevator mix, so this is the best place for them.

Thanks for the help. I will try the Flaps on Ch3. I too thought of the mix in channels, but when I go through the steps to mix channels, It takes me to a mix in Ch 1 and 4, so haven't figured out how to unmix 1 and 5. Yes, the manual is poor, I do reference it, but haven't found the way to clear the ch5 from ch 1. I did send Hitec an e-mail, so we'll see what I get. Thanks again to all.

Your description sounds like you have it set up for flapperons. That's what I fly with my DLG's. You can go back to the factory setup but again that is in the manual. If I am not mistaken, you can turn off the mix on the same screen that you set it up on. I have a 2m bird that I am about to finish (Ruby). I have setup 2 Y-harnesses. 1 for the ailerons, 1 for the flaps. The flaps are setup to run on the throttle.
Let me know what happens.

Mix of one and four would be Aileron/rudder for coordinated turns.

It's the flaperon mix that you have on. I forget which keys to hold down on the Flash when you turn it on to go to the primary setup screens, but go there, scroll through to the wing setup, Delta, flaperon, V or off I think, and turn it off, then turn off the transmitter and turn it back on, you should be back where you want it with ailerons working independant of flaps and flaps on the retract switch. If you put the flaps on the throttle, you will have proportional flaps set whereever you have the throttle stick. That could be good or bad I guess, I don't know know how the good guys fly. I've always just used rate control in the setup to dial down however much flaps I can deal with in flight and use the retract switch.

Thanks for the help. I went in to the set up mode and where I set the flaps it gave me a choice of Ch 1, 2 or 5. I selected CH 5, where I set the flaps up. It caused the problem I described. I will keep looking for the mix from Ch 1 to 5. Haven't found it yet. Thanks for all the help. If I get out to fly the maiden, I will put the flaps on Ch 3 till I get things worked out.

Starting on page 22 of your manual, section G, they give an example of setting up a three position switch so you can have three different modes. One of those modes includes flap to elevator mixing. It continues on to page 23.
I think this section discusses the type of set-up we have been talking here.
Pretty cool radio for a 5 channel system that has been around for a few years.
