Carbon Fibre tubes for fuz - further thought

Pondering the C.F. tube question posed in my previous thread - another solution suddenly struck me. Why does it have to be a tube ? How about a CF wing spar with vertical grain balsa, with a CF sleeve or wound as in sayno2glo's idea ?

Would welcome your thoughts / comments / experience ?

One thing is that wing spars, as discussed in the other thread, are designed to carry bending and shear loads... not torsional loads as would be seen in a tailboom.
