Just ordered it the other day, should be here by the 13th or 14th. Any tips or pointers I should know before I start assembling it? This is my first 2 meter ship and I know the TX program is gonna be a bear and so will the trimming w/6 servos and all. Speaking of servos what do you recommend? I've heard HS81's don't last and the metal gear version is kinda heavy but should be used for flaps at least. What should it weigh all up?

A buddy of mine has a Velvia. He used 4-HS 81's (no flaps) and it is very light. It floats very well in light lift. If he would just turn RIGHT into the thermal area at the end of the high start, he could easily climb past my Marauder!

On another note - I talked to Andre today and it looks like the next shipment may be delayed in customs for about another week. Looks like the 15th or so before he gets any new planes in. I'm waiting for my new Boar 2C!

Darn!!! He told me he would have them in by the 10th. But that was about a week ago.
I'll tell ya tho, I almost got the Boar 2M (v-tail) it was a hard decision to make but I really wanted a full house ship without having to butcher a new kit. How light is your buddy's Velvia, have you weighed it?

I havn't weighed it and he has never said, but I'd guess about 18 - 20 oz. It's about half the weight of my spirit elite ARF!
The Boar has the same wing area but is about 5-6 oz lighter due to the "pod and boom" fuse. I also ordered one of the "experimental" light weight Polyhedral wings for RES. It has thinner wing skins, higher aspect ratio and is a few ounces lighter than the standard wing. Should be a real floater!

MT,

I just finished a Sierra from Art Hobby - Here's the build thread

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2272409#post2272236

The Velvia looks close to the Sierra, just not as big. In fact I originally wanted the Velvia FT, but Andre told me they were 6 to 8 weeks out. So I got the Sierra :D

I'm really happy with the way it came out. I used HS-85MG+ all the way around. A little over kill probably, but with my bad flying I can strip gears in a heart beat :o

I've also got the Hyper DL that I "throw" around. The Art Hobby kits are REALLY nice, but the instructions need work.

I hope all this helps out - ENJOY the new bird!!!!!
