I managed to get hold of a sealed lead acid 12v 7.2 Ahr battery to use with
my Hyper 7 starter box, whats the best way to charge it - can I just use my
car charger?
Thanks,
Steve.

Only if your car charger can charge SEALED batteries, they require a
different charging regime to normal lead acid (car batteries), they usually
have better voltage regulation and a gradually reducing current. Most
automatic car chargers just pump in unregulated power from a transformer
until the voltage reaches a certain point and then switch off or to a lower
maintenance voltage which could potentially kill a sealed battery due to
overcharge.

I charge mine using a car charger set at 2A. YMMV.

Charge it at 0.2C (0.2*7.2) or about 1.5 Amps, until it gets up to
12.0 V. Then the charge should decrease gradually, until the battery
reaches 14.25 V at 0 Amp charging current. If the car charger is
a trickle charger, it might work. If an old sealed battery is dead,
it may be sulfated, and it won't charge with a typical charger.
