Up in Seattle I went to a steel shop and got 2.5" bar steel cut into 12" lengths. I would use these to hold down the wing beds and other goodies during the bagging process.

Anyone know where I can get that here in SoCal/Orange County or have other suggestions?

There's IMS in Irvine:
http://www.imsmetals.com/

Or you can try here:

There's one right off the 5 somewhere with a cool sign which says "METAL." ...something or other. Can't remember where it is. Fullerton or something. ;)

Good luck,

I forget the name too, but I think it's about 5 miles north of Disneyland on the west side of the freeway. A very cool sign - you can't miss it.

I think I remember seeing that. I'll have to check it out, thanks!

Try useing Lead or steel shot in old blue jeans to make bags.
This is what I use.

I ended up getting some steel from IMS, DAMN steel has gotten expensive lately. I ended up with some remnants so it was cheaper but still up 100% from 12 months ago.

I cut plywood planks the same shape as the wing, and lay them on top of the Vacuum bag while it's curing, then I take 4 or 6, five gallon buckets from Home Depot and put them on top of the planks and fill with water each bucket. cheap and easy, no heavy lifting either.

Juko, good method but how do you make a hot box around that to 'cook' your recipe?

I always do the final cure about 8 hours later on a 5x2 ft machined granite stone, I just asemble my hot box around the stone with the wings in the beds on the stone.

When in the hot box I'll use about 200lbs. of exercise weights to keep things flat.
