Anyone have a small section of 2.9oz/sqyd they could sell? Approx 3"x8" would be great.
Or, who sells this stuff?
Thanks
Edit - changed weight to 2.9oz/sqyd

You won't find anything that light in carbon, unless you want to have a mill custom weave it for you. The lightest you will "commonly" see is made from 1k tows, spaced out a bit. It ends up being about 2.9oz/sqyd. ACP has it for about $80/yard. http://www.acp-composites.com/
What's the application?

Say the application is to fix a wing on one of those high dollar carbon fiber winged planes you see in San Diego every weekend and in York later this summer. I'll leave it at that for now! But a spare piece would be much appreciated. I would hate to spend that much when I just need a sliver.
And the bill goes to FedEx Ground........

That stuff is so pricey cause almost no one makes it. Price goes down alot if you can deal with a little heavier peice.

Guess two layers of 0.75 oz/sqft fiberglass will work instead.

not sure this will help but look at the 2 pics this stuff maybe can be used for what you need looks like maybe .10 thick? I really have no idea on the weight and the roll of it looks like it was designed to pull strips off of it ie not like a full sheet of cf or fg matt.
If you thik this would help pm me your address
thx. BW

Here is a picture, but swing by DCB tomorrow AM and you can check it out. I also need some unidirectional tow to fix the cracked spar. On the brighter side, I just finished building a crate out of 3/4" pine that is gusseted and bracketed to death. It measures 6.5" x 11" x 83.5" and can hold two F5F airframes and the Flash 60E. Could probably find a way to stuff your Banana in there, too. Good for air travel. Perhaps to NM in a few months.
Bruce - let me get back to you, thanks!

Yo down_shift,
How bad is the damage to the spar? Is it cracked lengthwise or broken in two?
IMO 2 layers of .75oz. glass will not be a suitable repair for the damage in the photo you have posted.
Whatever material you do use make sure to place some of it on a 45degree bias.
I have some 2.9oz. carbon uni you can use for the wing and some 4.7oz. carbon tow for the spar I can send you if you PM me with your address.

TD - PM w/ address sent. Thanks!
Not sure about the damage to the spar other than the wing can move up 10 degrees very easily when griping the spar either side of the crack. The skin would have to be cut to see what is going on in there. As of now, I am not touching a thing until the claim with FedEx is settled.
Here are some pics of the new crate:
