Hi!
I curently own a copy of the Leisure Lanzo Bomber plans but unfortunately the plans are lacking in terms of some of the rib templates for the main wing and the tail feathers. The bomber is next on the my list after my current project a scratch builted Playboy. I was wondering if anyone had the rib templates or acutal blasa ribs and willing to share a photo copy of them? Thanks in advance, Roel

The plans don't come with rib templates because the wood is laser cut in the kits so you don't have to cut the ribs out. Your only hope is someone with an unbuilt kit willing to copy the balsa sheets. I'm unsure if this is considered losher or not. It would make me uncomfortable.

Oops Sorry! I had no idea they were still in production. I guess I will hold on and buy myself a kit. Thanks, Roel

"<<but unfortunately the plans are lacking..>>"
Yeah, I guess you could say that, but for another reason, (not the rib templates).

Actually, the Lanzo Bomber is not in production by Leisure....
I think they are referring to the new kits by Spirit of Yesteryear (SOY) or some of the kits by Old Timer kit manufacturers like Klarich or Bob Holman.

I am building the Leisure kit Lanzo Bomber and was moving right long until I got to the wingtip, (it will take some experience and creativity....to match up the sub spars and tip block parts).

I've got the original Lesisure kit and plans and the wing tip had me puzzled.
It looks easy enough to do the way it is drawn on the plan view, but the reality is a bit different.

I'll try and post some pictures.

BTW:You going electric?

I can think of a few ways to finish this wingtip but I want to do the kit design justice...what ever that may be.

I think if you cut the spars/turbulators at the last rib and install angled pieces of the same stock going from the rib to the tip, that's the intended solution. It's the same way the Playboy wingtip is done. I'll try to get you a closeup of mine (one of the advantages of clear covering).

You could also cut the spar at the last rib like Allan mentioned and use traingle braces. I think that is what I have seen in other Lanzo's posted on the web. I have attached a link to a Lanzo which seems to show this. I have also looked at my other full size Lanzo's and they show the same thing as the Leisure plans. I plan to use the triangle menthod and then sand away to the contour of the wing. I hope this helps and good luck, Roel

Well it is a small world isn't it. I am the web site designer and maintainer for the Rebel flying club. :D IIRC, that bomber belongs to Dave Brown, who laser cuts kits here in Australia. He may have more info, so I will pass a link on to him and see if he replies.

I just e-mailed the owner of the Lanzo bomber from our web page and this is what he had to say.
Dave Brown: Have not done anything with a leisure plan, but happy to send cut ribs from the Lanzo plan but need the guy to get in touch for scale, sizes and material matching. So if anyone wants some, PM me and I can forward on his e-mail address. Note, that he is in Australia.

...but maybe the conversation will be useful to you if you decide to build from the Leisure plans.
Sounds like there are folks willing to help with some rib patterns.
Or.........if you got money to burn..try this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5907615179&ssPageName=ADME:B:DS:US:6

The wing tips aren't explained very well in the original Leisure kit plan view drawing, as you can see.
I figured I could do a couple of different things (several of which our friends posted here) but I like to check with people first because I get concerned about messing around with wing tips.......changing it may affect the LE/TE and may create or remove wash out if it is not explained.

AllThumbs,
No Problem! That is what this forum is for! Hopefully, Dave can jump on the thread and maybe shed some light on the wing tips!

He is not a registered member. He didn't seem to be interested in joining the forum.

A SAM 117 member sent me this new link on the main SAM site. Tandy Walker has done an amazing job on the Lanzo Bomber. Check out Tandy's detailed photos and text (http://www.antiquemodeler.org/Buildabomber.htm) to see the work of a master builder. Roel, check out the third page of Tandy's build and your wing tip question will be resolved.

Steve-
Cool Website! It's great! It really helps out in answering the wing tip question and some other questions like the pylon build. I will definetly bookmark it and use it when I begin my Lanzo. This guy Tandy is amazing. Great looking Lanzo!

Oh by the way, the wingtip question was brought up by a fellow ezoner ALLthumbs. I am sure he will find this website very useful. Thanks, Roel
