Hi everyone!!!

I downloaded fms 8.1 and when I would try to run it, there would be a serious lag... it almost looked like i was watching a slide show...

I deleted that version and d-loaded the other version and I had the same problem....

Then I burned all of the fms data off of my cpu and put it on a CD....

I installed it on my Laptop which has windows XP and again.... it lagged a lot!!!

I NEED HELP.... NEED TO PRACTICE ROLLING CIRCLES!!! :D :D :D

I have FMS 2.0 Beta 7 on my laptop with Windows xp and it works fine.
Have you defragmented you hard drive? That can speed up the computer.
You could also try closing other programs. Click Run, then type msconfig. Choose Diagnostic Starup. Restart computer and see if it will run.
I'm just guessing, but something running could be interfering with FMS or slowing it down.

when i go to run and then type in msconfig it says that it "cannot find the file 'msconfig' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."

The minimum system requirements for FMS (as I tested it) are as follow:
Pentium II, 300MHz
64MB RAM
DirectX Compatable Graphics card, at least 32MB
DirectX Compatable Soundcard
DirectX 8 or newer

If the graphics card is not up to par, the frame rate can be as low as 1 screen/second or slower.

Try updating the DirectX drivers ( link available on my web (http://myweb.absa.co.za/eric.brouwer/index.htm) ), and ensure you have installed the latest drivers for your sound and graphics card.

You could try closing everything on the task bar.
It seems like something might be using enough of the computer's resources that it's slowing it down..

not sure if this would work but you want 30 frames per second so -

0.005 x 30 = 0.15 as your setting. (not sure if this would change fps but worth a try)

if this doesnt work then its definately to do with your graphics card as ive seen mine vary on the fps while playing it. ive no knowledge on graphics cards - if they have settings that can change the fps ?
