I have a Multiplex Aplina scale ship with factory sheeted obeechi wings.
I wish to cover with light weight fiberglass, painting the mylars. My question is that the wings have partially cut out ailerons and flaps.. should I just bag over all this and cut complete the complete cut out of the flaps and ailerons after the bagging and touch up the fiberglass, or???
input appreciated.

Kevin,
Sounds like that's what you'd have to do. If there are holes, such as for servos, it would be good to fill those temporarily with foam. Otherwise, the vacuum will tend to crush that area. Are the ailerons pre-hinged? If not, that's even better (less to worry about messing up). The edges of the ailerons and openings can be touched up after the bagging process.
Good luck,

Hi Kevin, how are things?
Are the aileron and flap leading edges already capped with balsa or do you still have to add the balsa caps to them?
If they are not capped already then IMO you should finish cutting them out of the wing, cap them with balsa and bag the wings, flaps and ailerons seperately.
This is more work but you will achieve a better looking wing and this method will add a bit of strength to the control surfaces.
If the control surface caps are already installed under the wing skin then you can bag the whole wing in one step.
Is the wing white foam? If so do not go over 6PSI when you bag the wings.
.75oz. glass will give you a nice surface finish, check out the new Krylon Fusion spray paint, it is excellent.
By the way I have lost your mailing address and I would like to send you one of my new fuse. pods so would you take a moment to email me your address?
