Hi,

Somehow, I smoked a GWS ICS300 esc the other day. Luckily it was on the ground, no crash! :) The BEC part of it is still working. Receiver and servos are working. Don't know if it is just the FET that smoked or the controller has failed, too. But if it is just the FET, I should be able to easily replace it, right? Does anyone know what FET to order? I can barely see the first line, L3103, on it, but it probably is the next line, xR1x7T?

Any suggestion before I throw it into garbage can?

Thanks!

Martin

I have fixed a few brushless speed controllers when the FETs burned. I used Vishay Si4442DY FETs. Thats the parts used on CC Phoenix 10 and 25 controllers. Not sure what GWS uses. You definitely want to match the FETs but if you replace all of them with something close, would be ok. By close just get a FET with the appropriate drain-source voltage and current rating. Make sure that the required gate turn on current is less than 20ma so the controller chip can drive it.

Hope that helps, might try google searching FETs with the numbers you read off yours.

Thanks, hbsloper. Good suggestion. I will try to look up a FET on google. Trouble is that the marks on my ICS300 is not clear enough. Will try anyway. Maybe someone knows for sure will chime in later. :)

The ICS-300 uses an IRL3103. It's available from Digi-Key (http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail?Ref=954&Row=269463&Site=US).

Prices at www.mouser.com are generally better and I have found Mouser service to be absolutely superb...they have even upgraded my shipping to UPS Next-Day Air on my $100 order for no charge. They are a great company to deal with, and Digi-key tends to have much higher prices on almost all parts.
