Newbie wants to Fly the humming bird.

Hello Gang,

I know you guys can help me out, I've been thinking about buying and hopefully flying a Humming Bird, so before I'll buy one. I would like to hear you gus opinion about the CP humming bird. Pros and Cons. Please be honest and open in your opinions.

I know you guys have been doing mods. to those that already is flying the humming bird. What's opinion on Centuries new CP Humming bird?

Need help :) So I can make up my mind.

to be honnest, un like planes most of the micro hellies avable to start with hadle all preti much the same, you best bet it to buy a heli that you can get quick replacment parts for

have a look on eBay for some cheap hellies RTF stuff

Doesn't the CP Humming bird has lot's of replacement parts?

I have over 60 flights on my Hummer Elite CP and it flies great!

After reading a lot I decided to go to separate electronics, brushless, and ET 1200 3s LiPo. It flies very will with the stock blades.

Possible Problems:
My original set of blades were very out of balance and did not run smooth even after I balanced them. I get another set and these were balanced very well and ran smooth.

The optional symmetrical blades are to short and don’t work as well as the stock semi-symmetrical blades.

The stock tail motor will fail early if you don’t use a high frequency ESC. The new TREC and Schultz 105He seam to work well. There is a guy at RR that claims the stock tail motor will last 200+ flights with a high frequency ESC. http://runryder.com/helicopter/t110678p1/

Century should have all spare parts in stock shortly but they have been a little slow.

Can you fly helis now ? Or will this be your first ?

Personally, i wouldn't recommend a CP heli for a beginner. Although they would be easier to fly, I also think they are harder to setup and more costly to fix due to their more complicated nature.

Personally, I would get a cheaper fixed pitch heli which you can crash and trash. Once you have "mastered" that, then get a CP heli.

and re what jarg says..I agree. Yes you can get spares for all the popular helis like the hummingbird, but it might pay to see what your lhs stocks so can quickly pick up a new set of blades..etc. Better than being grounded for a week.

I have done no research on the cp hb so don't know about replacement parts, but take for example a Hornet 2. (also a micro cp) A new set of blades are about $50. For a FP heli, it's more like $10 (or $20 if you get the much better wood blades).

If you are learning, you will crash and wll break blades.

I'm in level 4 right now in IC heli. I've flown and beta test upgrade parts for Corona. I gotten back to the darkside and I have a Raptor .50V2. I want to fly somethin small, like a micro in the front yard.

Good to hear that the Humming Bird is getting good reviews :)

I want something small though. I still miss Electric, because it's not as heavy, as bringing a gallon of jug in the field.

Nah... Dude, don't feel like that :eek: I'm still around the block ;) trying to relearn Electric crafts and systems all over again :(

Genovia...if you like the Raptor you should look at the Hornet II.
