I thought it was about time there was a giant scale Cub on the market that was designed from the ground up as an electric. My prototype tips the scales at 96 oz. ready to fly. I'm using 10 GP 3300 cells. Changing to lipolys should shed about 12 oz which would get this Super Cub into the sub 5 1/2 pound range.

Nice looking kit.
Seems a better route than trying to modify a Glow kit!
Would an AXI 2820/10 spool this baby up?
Can't wait to hear how it flies.

I think the Axi would fly it fine.
The plane flies great. I flew it for years as the glow version. This new electric version has the exact same airfoil etc.... just a completely different structure with more scale detail. The plane is much lighter and just as strong. It would make a fine "glow conversion". :D

What covering would you suggest using to cover the e-kit?
Monokote? Ultrakote? Nelson lite film seems too thin for a bird of this size.

p.s.
Anybody want to by a 71 inch SIG Cub j-3 kit? Seems I won't be needing mine any longer... ;)

Hey Adrian,
If you ever decide to build up an 80 inch Citabria 7ECA -I'd be first in line to purchase that kit. ;)

I like to use Balsa USA's Aerospan. It's very light and goes around compound curves like Monocote wishes it could. It's made by Solarfilm in England...the same people that make the litefilm you mentioned. If you shrink it with a heat gun it will stay tite even in the back of a van on a hot day.

Hmm.. let's see.. ;) I'd hate to steal Kirby's thunder ( who has a full review comming out soon) but..
Firstly, I would reccomend checking out the large thread in the Scale section..
OK.. hmm.. mini-review..
Kit comes with very nice FG cowl and nice windows. :) Bix box-o-plywood that basically falls together.. I am curious as to what size laser is cutting this plywood.. It cuts it great..
Kit starts with a build of the fuse then off to the wing and then the tail section.. All very very straight forward. :)
All in all, it's a great kit, builds very well and should look great sitting on the flight line. :)
How's that? :D
