I have a model that looks like a slightly scaled-down Sig 4 Star 40 (RBC Fun700), low wing, sport aerobatic type (electric) with full-span ailerons. The ailerons are on separate servos on separate channels on a programmable Tx. I have been curious about trying to set up flaps with the mixing ability of my radio, but I don't know where to start. Should the max flap deflection be more, less, or equal to the down deflection of the ailerons? I have been kind of leery of trying this out because it seems like it effectively gives you wash-IN, isn't that bad at low speeds (like for landing)? Obviously the plane flies fine without flaps but seems like it might be fun to play around with slower &/or steeper approaches. Any advice welcome.
