My g/f and I purchased zig zag racers and had a blast with them, although they eventually broke, we enjoyed them in her 36' pool.. We now want a bigger , faster electric boat, preferably RTR to take out on the lake. Any recommendations? Also, anything available LIKE the zigzag racer out there or is that tops in it's class? We are new to RC boats so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

For out of the box performance, something from Kyosho or Graupner. The monohulls are the easiest to set up. Go for somethig with a 700 size motor for 12 cells, as the 550 motors burn out too quickly as it's wot most of the time with boats.
Take a look at http://www.finedesignrc.com/ or

Just hope you have as much fun as you did trolling with Zaggy :D

most RTR hulls are in the 10-20 mph range, typically set up with 540 sized motor/s.It really depends on how much you are willing to spend & If you plan on doing a bit of building,or simply buy a hull complete & add water & batteries.a good sized hull with a 700 motor running 12 cells will perform well. Some hulls run 540 modified motors & have good speed & are competitive
in racing.Brushless motor combos are the new craze in FE boats, but it does come with a price. If you like the Zig Zags & like to stay mini sized but would love to have more speed im sure with a little effort they could be modified.Check out www.microhydros.com lots of different hulls & some real "speed demon" boats.Cheers!.
