Got out with my Wind free redoux yesterday PM. Only the second time this year (too much park flying  ). It was really windy but it's a pretty fast plane and conditions were otherwise perfect. Keeping the nose down and setting up the landing pattern early kept everything smooth. I inherited the wings and stab with the rest of a crashed WindFree from "a friend of a friend of ..." Whoever built them might be pleased to learn they're still flying.

Hmmm no picture of it handy. 100" WindFree wing mounted midfuse, T-tail. Fuse is 1/32 ply rolled into a teardrop section. Looks a bit like a Swift with a Pilatius B4 tail (not nearly as pretty as either).

It was launching like a rocket. Managed to circle tightly in lift from the local lumberyard. Got about 100 Meters alt. from that then moved a bit downwind and it really started to climb. Suddenly the challenge was keeping it in sight! I swear it brushed the bottom of the clouds a few times.  I lost it for a full second. My eyes started to water and vision was bouncing. Stick to the bottom left and it spiraled down hard and fast. I recovered directly into lift and waaaayyy down wind. Shoved the stick forward the kept it pointed at me until it got big enough I could make out the tail. By the time it got back it was at altitude again and I let it climb but kept it closer. My eyes got tired so I pushed it upwind and down then finished with a couple big fat loops and a minute or two of sustained inverted. It flies nice inverted.
32 minutes total. [/IMG]

I assume this was from a 'gentle' hi-start?
