I am finally finished (well as close as I ever get to finishing) and was wondering where people are setting up the Aegea Mantis (Phil Barnes wings, Terry Luchenback Fuselage) control throws? All I seem to recall is launching 10% down entire trailing edge, normal thermal trailing edge even with top of wing, cruise (reflex) trailing edge even with top of wing.

What I really want to know is ballpark settings for elevator, rudder and ailerons and whether people are using just aileron or full trailing edge for roll control. Your answers will make first flights much less nerve wracking.

Max reflex is -2 degrees, which is the as-bagged configuration. Bottom surface is flat across the hinge.

Max camber is about +3 to +4 degrees, which is 0.22" to 0.26" TE down from the full reflex position.

Launch camber is about +10 degrees all across the span.

Make the flaps move about 50% of the aileron movement in response to aileron stick. Move the flaps more if you want more tip stall margin.

I'm not sure what people use for max aileron throws and tail throws. I'd start with the old Mantis setup here: http://home.att.net/~CASA/Mantis/Mantis_page_Constuction_tips.htm#RADIO%20PROGRAMMI NG%20AND%20SETUP
Maybe reduce these to 75% as big, since the Aegea has larger control surfaces than the Mantis.
Should be close enough for test flying.

Here's a Mantis/Aegea forum which should be useful:

Phew, I was starting to think I was going to have to test fly with guestimated throws. Thank you Mark, I feel like I can start in the ballpark instead of worrying about the “OH MY GOD” first set up.
