How do they compare to the HS-55 ? quality and performance? problems ?

I have used the HS-50, HS-55, HS-81 and the old HS-100 servos and really like them.

Radios I own by Hitec are the Flash 5 System X, Laser 6, Neon, two Focus SS FM and one Focus SS AM.

I've read the specs so no need to list them.

What is karbonite ? Does that make the gears stronger / better.

Thanks

Yea the sales marketing guys would say it is stronger and wears much less than normal so the gear lash stays tight.

Other than that It appears to be the same motor torque etc. It also has some nice side mount tabs as well.

On the downside I think it is a bit heaver....

I would assume that Karbonite is a fance name for a carbon fiber filled Polyamide (Nylon) instead of the standard glass fiber filled grade. If that would be true than it would be a couple of percentages stronger and have substantial wear rate improvements (more than 100%+). I would assume that they probably went with one of the standard commercial grades hence the fibers would probably not be optimized for wear but rather for strenght. But that is just me guessing.

So if my guess is right than the servo with Karbonite material should not get sloppy for a longer period of time

I am using a set in the tail of my graphite 3.1m cross tail and love them. They have about the best centering of any servo I have used. Only time will tell on the wear properties of the karbonite gear train, but so far no use induced slop! Which is more than I can say for the hs85mg/hs125mg servos installed in the wing, after only 10 flights there is enough slop to the point of degraded control ie. flutter!!!

The HS-56 also has a ball bearing. The 55 and 50s do not.
