View Full Version : Brand New 1500mah Lipolys

We have just received our next batch of the 1500mah lipolys that we were selling back in March. The dimensions are 85mm x 50mm x 4.5mm (LxWxH) 37g @.The tabs are solderable with standard electrical solder.. no more aluminum paste hassles! The shipping costs (or possibly the exchange rate.. hard to tell from our supplier) increased so the cost per cell went up by .60 cents USD to $12.60 per cell. All overseas shipping will now be done by global EMS (express mail service) as we had problems with Global Priority mail the last time around.. the worst of which is 10 cells that are still MIA. The cost is slightly higher for Global EMS, however it offers direct tracking of the packages and shorter transit times (often only 2 days). Please pm or email for actual shipping costs. These cells have performed very well through many cycles of testing, very often taking in much more than 1500mah and sustaining more than the 8C they are factory rated for. Paypal or Postal Money Order accepted. :)

Do you have any performance data on these cells? Are they the same as used in any of the popular R/C packs?

What would the shipping costs be for 3 to 5 cells shipped CONUSA?

We do have this discharge curve made on a Kameleon charger, and we're in the process of getting a more robust tester to test them at much higher current/watts. For now though, here's the discharge curve. We sold 430 of these back in March with no complaints. Shipping cost for 3 - 5 cells conusa would be $4.50. Thanks! :D

Hi.
This chart only shows discharge at 1A. Does the Kameleon have a higher discharge setting? I am wondering about 7A discharge rate, or 5C.
Also, does the $4.50 shipping charge apply to 6 cells shipped as well?

Unfortunately the Kameleon will only discharge lipos at 1A max. We are currently looking at buying a specific tester that will discharge up to 40A! The $4.50 charge applies to any order up to 1 pound including packaging. I'll determine exactly how many that is, however 6 cells will not be that high so, yes, 4.50 would cover 6 cells shipped conusa.

I bought 21 of them the last time.
They cycle out at ~1550mah.
Discharge at 7 amps is identical to Kokam 1500s.
Size wise they are thinner than the Kokam 1500 but are wider.
Weight is 0.5oz heavier than a Kokam in a 3S1P package.
The tabs do solder with std equipment.

I can't say anything bad about them.

quick service and they were packaged very well. I just put them together last week and tried them on a J250 Clic. They perform as well as my etec 1200 pack and probably better but I have not used them more than about 5 minutes so I cannot say much else. They are very fragile and easily dented so I am apprehensive about using them exposed on a wing. I am not a lipoly builder and I probably overengineered the pack a little. If they were going in a fuse I would have no worries using them. Great people to deal with. Do you plan on building packs in the future. It scared me to death putting them together after hearing of all the lipoly fires and mishaps. I personally would much rather have it done professionally if you ever decide to sell them this way.

At the present time we only have the 1500's. We actually had more inquiry for larger cells than these, and have some samples due in in about a week of those.

I'm using a 3s1p pack from the last batch on my slowstick with Himax 2015-4100. Runs
about 11 amps at full throttle. They've been handling it just fine.

I bought three last time. I fly a GWS ME-109 with a Mega 16/15/7 for almost 20 min's with outstanding performance. I just ordered three more. The solderable tabs make building a pack easy.

Hi,

I have been using cells from the previous batch on my brushless Voyager-E. With a 3S2P (11.1V 3000mAH) pack I can fly about 10 min. That's 18A average and something like 35A peak and the cells are handling this very well.

By the way, I am in Japan, I ordered the cells from HARRomeo specifiying that I was in a hurry (to get them before I leave for a long week end) and got the cells in 3 days! That's not bad :D

By popular demand we will now offer Global Priority shipping to overseas addresses, however we can not guarantee them to arrive in 4 - 5 days as stated by the Postal Service. Please PM or email for an exact shipping quote. Please include in that message what you want specifically for product as well so we can determine package dimensions and weight. Thank you! :D :D :D :D

Yes, they will. I actually pull more than that through mine without significant heat in the pack afterwards. Others here that bought some from our last batch have had similar experiences with them. The manufacturer rates them for 8C.

Has anyone done concrete tests on these to determine Voltage drop at 8c's, if so what is the V drop and capacity at that level. what about 10c's? Thanks.

We are currently in the process of aquiring a tester capable of really working the cells and graphing the results. I can tell you that we sold over 400 of these back in March and received raving replies on their performance. Wish there was an "independent testing company" to do tests on these lol! I know I get better performance from them than the Kokam 1500s. Heck, I sold my Kokam packs after comparing them. (And of course the Kokam 1500's produce better performance than the E-Tech 1200s, so I sold those as well.) :D

How much interest would there be in pre-made packs? 2S, 3S, 4S?

weflyon
Jun 09, 2004, 03:02 AM
Is there any other interest, besides mine, in a diagram and explanation of how to build serial packs with taps for checking and charging individual cells? Would this be a possible feature on your website? Even though the price is great for these nice cells, 5s4p is still a significant investment! Can this be done without adding a pcb to each pack? thanks, Steve.

HARRomeo
Jun 09, 2004, 07:06 AM
Taps could be done without a PCB, however they'd have to be done with smaller gauge wires coming off each solder joint so you could charge each individual cell. For each 5S config you'd have 6 of these wires (since each cell shares a connection with another one they will also share a tap wire) . Although this would work, you'd have to have a way to insulate the tap wires when they are not in use, and you'd also be adding weight to the pack with all those wires. It would be cleaner with a PCB. Currently there are no PCB's available for these cells, however there are some in the design stages. The way I balance mine is to use small alligator clips on charger leads and clip them on to the solder joints to charge the individual cells. The only time I've ever had to balance my packs though was when I accidentally over-discharged them, and I've learned not to do that lol! With my current packs I make it a point to only use 2/3's of their capacity and I haven't had to balance them yet (and I've been flying with them on average 7 flights a week since January, so they have lots of cycles on them so far!)

Yes, a 3S2P would need 6 cells. I haven't done an exact count, but I'd estimate about 100 on hand and 200 more I can put my hands on the same day. I always announce when we get below 50 cells left. :D

HARRomeo
Jun 16, 2004, 09:20 AM
The only thing that would inhibit these from working with your IPS drive would be the battery compartment size. A 1P config of these cells can supply sustained current well above what an IPS would ever pull. :D
