This was started over in the AP forum....but much of the electronics can be applied to other electronic conversion projects.....
Details/schematics in this thread:

Please post on that thread for comments suggestions. :)
Thanks
Features include:
1)Will work as a stand-alone fully self-contained stock-functioning camera....but once it is plugged into a free channel, it automatically sets itself up for RC use!
1)Will take RC-controlled video AND still pics during same flight. No switches to set. No servo actuators. 100% electronic. Only uses one channel.
2) Will NOT auto-shutdown. It will stay on for as long as the camera is powered up when powering off BEC.
3) Camera will still auto-shutdown when using internal batteries.
4) Camera came under 4.5 oz w/256Meg flash. All electronics fit (tightly) inside stock case.
5) Focus is set to infinity. I may need to adjust again after all bumping it during assembly.
6) No switches to set to select new features. All activate simply by plugging camera into a free channel.
7) LCD and speaker still work for field-viewing of pics/movies.
8) Batteries can remain in camera durring RC use (no worries about frying electronics). All RC functions still work.
