I would love to come up and run some on the 5th, but unfortunately (and I use the term loosley) I'll be in Little Rock flying little airplanes. Please post lots of photos when it's done.

Well here is the prize for first place in maneuvering.
A model of the tall ship USS Constellation.(Estimated Value is $2000 at any fine furniture store.) The model was built and donated Dr. Andrew Schink of Eugene Oregon.

See the Attachment.

Judging is based on the number of times your throttle or rudder stick is moved. Basically the commands given to your ships crew.

Another note, we were not able to secure permission this year for any gas boats to be on the pond. It is unfortunate, but simply a matter of city conditions.

Aimee Eng

Feel free to forward this to any one you feel would like to show up at the pond, or print it out for anyone with out e-mail.

Well we had a rain out.

About 14 people showed up despite the advanced notice we tried to give to everyone. Only three of the people were intested in submitting their ship handling or scale building skills for judging. At least three new people showed up, and hopefully we can nuture them along, or they will find a support in the local club.

Promoting new life in model boating is difficult when so many can not be persuaded into participating in events. (George, I think I have a slight idea of how you feel) We suspended the event and are rescheduling it for August 14th during the Crawfish festival. So if you get an award dated June 5th, this is why  The Seattle club is already scheduled to participate, so hopefully sending them home with all the awards will promote more interest in competition. :D

Here are some of the boats that showed up.

1. Noel Bickman's Tug
2. David Longs Off shore trainer
(Looky PAT!!!)
3. Harry Horling's Orca Bow
4. Orca Stern( notice the chum bucket... :p )
5. Brad Schuldt's Bismark and a small person trying to figure out how to get it in his back pack. :D

Bad news about the shift due to weather, but the usual result is an even better event when finally run - everyone tries a bit harder!

Good luck on the re-run!

Attached is the poster for this years show. Should get a good read on how many boaters will be there on Sunday by the turnout at 6:00 AM tomorrow for the live promo telecast.

Well; if the 6:00 AM turnout is any indication, it should be a good show again. From what I saw on TV, about 20 members showed up at dawn to run about 50 boats in front of the TV cameras. The station did 5 minute coverages every 20 minutes from 6:00 AM until 9:00 AM. Additional promos will appear on local TV Friday and Saturday as well as taped coverage of the actual event by all 4 local stations.

If you are in the Mpls-St Paul MN area on Sunday June 13th, this is great family entertainment, and it is all free. :D

George,
Your club is way too recognized to be normal. :D
Hopefully you get more builders coming down to the club.
