View Full Version : Sceadu being annoying... some more

Right, so I've got the tail sorted... at only 96% gain and about half
available right trim. Works great now except I can't use HH (even if I
wanted to) 'cos of the trim.
Now the heat coming off the engine is annoying. I've richened it 1 click off
of too rich. I worked out too rich by the fact that the revs weren't getting
high enough for the TJ to engage (currently set to 1580 which is plenty for
me). I'm getting plenty (read plumes) of smoke but it's still hot. I even
installed the NHP cooling duct extension with frame stiffener and it is a
little bit cooler, and the crap going up the pressure line isn't as black.
I'm hoping to pick up a Quick UK fan for it from Sandown this weekend. Do
you reckon this will help? If not is there anything else I can try?
ta peeps

Please, a bit of help? :(

What gyro are you using?
Sounds like you need to take the trim out of the radio and compensate with
adjusting your tail linkage.
Turn off the TJ until you have the heli correctly tuned and set up.
Is it a 50 or a 30 heli.? What engine/muffler combo are you using? Whay main
blades/pitch are you running in the hover? What fuel are you using? Is your
throttle linkage correctly set up? What is your carb setting in the hover
position?
Lot of questions I know but more information would be needed to give you
some leads.
I've not logged on to this forum for a while now so apologies if you've
given all this info before.

Hurrah :) thanks for your response.
> What gyro are you using?
CSM ICG360

That's what I thought would be necessary after re-reading the gyro
instructions, thanks.

Can I just ask the reason behind doing this?
> Is it a 50 or a 30 heli.?
It is a 30 but the only difference with the sceadus is the power train and
blades. Same length boom and everything else.
>What engine/muffler combo are you using?
OS 32 SX-H (ABC) with a Hatori #333 tuned pipe
>Whay main blades/pitch are you running in the hover?
Standard 55cm woodies that came with it. Running a smidge under 5 degrees
hovvering mid-stick
>What fuel are you using?
ModelTechnics Formula Irvine Sport 5
> Is your throttle linkage correctly set up?
Yes
> What is your carb setting in the hover position?
1.5 turns on the main, not going to mess with the bottom to check sorry...
it's idling lovely right now.

Thankyou very much

And another thing.....
My Evo has a short fan shroud. Was the overheating problem addressed on
the Evo, or is it still worth making an extender like on the early
Sceadus? (actually I did it already, just wondering if I wasted the 20
minutes it took to make it).
