May 19, 2004, 12:02 AM
We (all-xtremehobbies.com) have recently taken delivery of our first GWS dealer shipment and are having a sale to commemorate the occasion! We have some Formosa kits, Tiger Moth 400's, and Beavers, as well as GWS Float sets! All planes in this sale will come with a free black colored 10x8 GWS prop in addition to the standard propellers in the kits, so the first prop you may break is on us, or maybe you just prefer the black look from the start! We also ship via Priority Mail, so you'll have your order in 2 - 3 days. For those that want to ROW (rise off water lol) our float sets are just the ticket.. only $9.55 with a plane purchase, or $10.30 a set by themselves. We don't mark up shipping costs.. you'll only pay the actual amount as calculated from the USPS website. Normally this is around $8 - $9 per plane kit.. not much more for plane kit with floats. Email us at sales@all-xtremehobbies.com with your interests for a shipping quote. Here's the pricing on the kits:

*EDIT* Updated prices:

Formosa = $38.61
Tiger Moth 400 = $64.50
Beaver = $35.50 (CURRENTLY SOLD OUT)
E-Starter = $32
Pico Tiger Moth = $46
Pico Stick (Fusealage Version) = $38

Again, included with every kit is a free BLACK GWS 10x8 propeller as well as the stock orange props already included in the kits.

For those that have their own shipping accounts and would prefer to arrange the shipping on their end please contact us at the above email address and we'll give you a pick up address so you can make the arrangements for pickup. Thanks for looking, and watch for Pico Tiger Moths and Slow Stiks soon!

Some have questioned whether or not we can ship via UPS or FEDEX Ground to lower the shipping costs and have better tracking (although longer transit times). We can ship by those methods, however we can't adhere to our "ships within 24 hours" policy with those carriers as the nearest drop off for either for us is 2 towns away! We can ship via those carriers by Friday though. If you want a shipping estimate based on either of those carriers please email sales@all-xtremehobbies.com and let us know what you want, and we'll get you a shipping amount. Please include at least your zip code and whether it will go to a business address or residential. Again, we don't mark up the shipping costs.. you pay only what the carrier charges. :D :D :D

After checking the rates on a couple of the kits there's not much to be saved by shipping UPS or FedEX ground.. less than .50 cents. Priority Mail is faster as well, however you have more direct tracking with the other carriers so I guess it's whatever you fancy. :D

Yes, that's true. Some would rather trust in the USPS Priority Mail service and get the kit faster than with the other carrier's ground services. I've personally never lost anything continental Priority Mail, however I have read that some have.. the worst we ever had was one that was directed incorrectly and ended up taking 10 days instead of 2-3.. but that was 1 in hundreds of shipments I've done. Still, you do have a point.. if you want the shipment insured UPS/FedEX do offer it free for the first $100, although you can't make a claim for a couple weeks of MIA... same with the USPS insurance.

Received my kits and floats in record time via Priority Mail..... When it was later discovered that the extra props were inadvertently left out of the shipment, David shipped them with an extra to make amends. I would whole heatedly recommend doing business with this new company. They seem to be very customer oriented.

Here's a few pictures of a Tiger Moth 400 on the GWS floats and a brief video of it taking off with them. Sorry I couldn't have better/longer video.. my DV camcorder is in for repairs so I had to shoot this with my digital camera in movie mode, and the memory was almost full and I only was able to get about 10 seconds of video.. did get the full takeoff though! Control was much better than a larger glow sized pontoon plane without water rudders as you can see in the video.. just a little input to keep it straight and lift off was smooth and quick! Nice plane! :D :D

Thanks Dawnron1! I sent 2 replies.. make sure to read the one about the props.

The black props won't fit the EPS400 drive that comes in the TM400 kit without modification. The center hole would need to be slightly enlarged and you'd either have to carefully enlarge the hex recesses in the prop to fit the larger nuts used on the 400 drive or find nuts with the same size/pitch but who's hex head fits the props. This is not a problem for the smaller GWS drives.

HARRomeo,

No problem, I'll be using an AXI 2212/26 brushless setup on the Tiger Moth. I usually just drill out the GWS props a little as you suggested and they work great!

We now have a slightly used (2 flights) BN2 Islander with Ducted fans. Minor repairs done on the nacelles from a bumpy landing. Landing gear not installed for weight considerations, however all parts to do that are included. We bought this new to test this model out.. found it a little mild in flight but nice for flying circuits. $60 shipped conus. For an extra $39 I'll leave the servos in it as well. Toss in a speed controller, rx, and battery and you're good to go!

What's the price on the E-Starter? Will you ship to Canada?

Thanks;
Rod

HARRomeo
Jun 17, 2004, 07:19 AM
The E-Starter is $31.85 plus shipping. We charge actual costs for shipping, so calculating it from the USPS.COM website a 3 pound 4 oz package from here to Canada would be $15.50 for Parcel Post, $16 for Global Priority, and $19.25 for Global Express. Sorry the shipping costs are so high, but that's the actual costs and not our own figures. These are the newest E-Starter kits with the EPS400 drives. We also offer it as a total package with everything needed to fly including the transmitter and field charger for $230 shipped continental US. For Canada it would be approximately $242 shipped. See page 1 of this thread for a picture of what comes with that package deal. :D

How bout e starter with two props mailed to 84084?

Total shipped to your zip would be $43.20 for an E-Starter plus 1 prop (we include one extra prop free with plane kits). Would you want 2 black 10x8's or 2 orange 9x7's, or one of each?

HARRomeo
Jun 19, 2004, 07:36 AM
BTW, we also offer FedEX or UPS ground shipping which is normally less than Priority Mail, however since it's ground service it can take up to 7 business days to get to you depending on where you live relative to NH. Priority Mail has it there in 2 days.. even to CA.

BrandoUno
Jun 19, 2004, 01:39 PM
What is cost on FedEx/UPS?

HARRomeo
Jun 19, 2004, 03:20 PM
FedEX on an E-Starter to your zip code would be approximately $8. You would receive it most likely a week from Monday or Tuesday if you paid this weekend. Total for what you want would be $31.85 for the E-Starter kit, $1 for the extra prop, and $8 for the shipping, bringing the grand total to $40.85. For the extra $2.35 for Priority Mail you'd get it on Wednesday this coming week if you paid this weekend. :D Your choice.

UPS would cost $10 on this size/weight box to your zip code, and says it would arrive to you by the evening on June 28th. Since Priority Mail is only .35 cents more than that and is 2 day service I doubt you'd be interested in that. BTW, these quotes are to residential addresses... apparently both shippers now charge a "residential surcharge" for such deliverys.

BrandoUno
Jun 19, 2004, 11:49 PM
If it's no big deal, I am that cheap and would like to save the $2.35. Send it FedEx, please send one black 10x8 and one 9x7 orange prop. I'll paypal $40.85 as soon as you remind me of your paypal address. Thanks!

BTW have any estarters with 350 motors? I have heard the 400 is too heavy. What do you think?
