Same theme... different thread!

How can I help?

Mike.

Hey Mike:
I have Eclipse 7 w/ Spectra module & noticed that the module gets mighty warm after about 15-20 minutes of use (not flesh burning hot, but nearly). Is this a normal condition for the RF modules or perhaps something that should concern me?

(great product, BTW!)

Hi Mike. Any plans to offer a 5+ ch Tx with the finger throttle lever as found in the Focus 3 series? I have NEVER had an accidental throttle on with this system. I think it is a very safe and convenient method of throttle control. Best Regards

Hi Mike. If I remove the batt. pack (just for a moment) from the TX on my Flash 5X will I lose all the settings I've programmed in?

Hi Mike,

Here's a question that I could probably learn from the manual, but if you or anyone knows offhand, I'd appreciate an answer. It's on my Eclipse 7.

I used flaperons on a recent plane. They seem to work ok, but the flap knob is nulled in the middle and I can make them go up or down. I'd like to use full knob travel for down only. Can I set a negative number somewhere?

How about if I have plain old separate flaps?

TIA
RB

PS
I tried to join your site, but the register page put me in a loop.

I'm really glad you started a new thread.

I'm using a Hitec Focus SS FM transmitter and Feather receiver with a Dymond 05 ESC and Speed 280 geared motor. Can't seem to get full range throttle and the motor doesn't seem to go to full speed. Can't get enough power to fly my Yard Bee. Any ideas what I should be looking for to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Hi Mike,

I have a Flash 5X and when using Aileron and Rudder mixing I notice the rudder only moves in one direction. This happened on a plane with one servo and one with two. Is this normal?

Thanks,
Pete

Mike:

I was programming my Flash 5X for a Wattage Mirage(elevons) today when I started getting what appeared to be random motor interference(servos twitched when low power is applied). Then the motor didn't want to shut off, and I had to adjust the throttle end point to 125% to get it to stop. Then it wouldn't stop at all, and the servos started going crazy. I unplugged the battery and tried again; things were calmer this time, but the servos throws were completely wacky; one went an extreme distance in one direction, and hardly at all in the other. The other servo did the same, but in the opposite direction. I reset all values and started over; the throttle problem didn't return, but the servo throws were still way off. All of the above was done with the antenna collapsed, and the voltage reading at least 10.5. I tried it with my Focus 3, and had no problems at all. Am I programming something wrong, or does the Flash 5X transmitter have a problem?

Thank you,
Jeff

Marduk- That's normal.

Bleriot- Don't hold your breath.

sgil2001- No, the memory is stored in a EPROM chip.

MrBungle- No problem!

Red Baron 47- Yes you can but you'll need to call me to discuss it. It too difficult to do it here.

Mighty Mik- You'd have to have someone retune it for you. Hitec can't do it because it is not FCC type accepted.

John Blankenship- I have heard that problem with some esc's. What you have to do is trim away some plastic so the throttle will travel a little further.

peterv- You have to program both sides. Move the stick slight to the side you want to program. If you leave it in the middle it will default to one side.

astroboy- I don't know... that doesn't sound good. You might try a different model memory and or reset to factory default. Send it in if the problem does not go away.

Mike.

Mike,

I have a hs-80 that seems to have a fried amp. Is this something worth getting fixed, and how much would it cost? Or should I just use it for parts?

Thanks,
David

Mike,

I don't have a technical question, but I did want to ask that you extend my thanks to the service guys who helped me get radio fixed up. I can't wait to fly this weekend! http://www.ezonemag.com/disc/smile.gif

Thanks a bunch,
Dave

Mike,

Does Hitec publish current draw information for its servo line? This is in reference to the use of BEC's that state the amount of current they can provide. I believe the BEC companies and the servo companies should provide this information rather than the BEC's just saying 3-4 or 4-5 servos.

If not, do you know what normal and stall current is for the HS-81 and the HS-85?

Thanks,

Joe

Mike,
Having enjoyed flying my Scooter for the past few months, it is time to try something different.

Are the servos and speed controller in the Scooter compatible with JR receivers and what is the wattage of the speed controller.

Be well,
Warren

Mike,

I lost the address you gave me to send in my Feather Rx. I have three of them and none have any kind of range or dependability.

Also, I'm picking up a Flash 4 or 5 in the next week. I've been plowing through the documentation and have developed a headache.

Can you give me the basic differance between the flash 4 and flash 5? I currently fly foamey slopers, 3 ch gliders, slow flyers, and 10-40 sized standard electric planes. I have no intention of moving to the really crazy stuff like strange mixing, Heli, or multiple aileron models.

Mike,
I have a large number of Hitec equip. all have given great service with one exception.
a HS 55 servo. It is very noisy even at idle that is no movement.
It seems to work ok on elevator. Should I have some concerns or not?
Thanks

Mike,

Is there any way you could post the correct Hitec trainer cord wiring diagram? People are having problems using the trainer connectors with Eclipse and Flash TXs. See this thread http://www.ezonemag.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2319

At your suggestion, I sent an e-mail to Tony at Hitec, but he directed me to a site showing a Futaba trainer cord diagram. That is not what I understood is the best cord to use with our Hitecs.

From the other thread, it appears that the Hitec cord has different connections in the Master and Slave ends. Is there any way to post a correct wiring diagram so we can be assured we are using the correct cords?

Mike

Have a Feather receiver that started to act up in a big way at the Iowa E-Fly. Have it installed in a Yard Bee and the motor will cut in and out at a constant rate. On ground check I walked out 80 paces and could actually turn the motor on and off by changing the direction I pointed the Xmtr antenna. The control surfaces worked OK, it was just the motor. Moved the battery pack outside the fuse, changeed ESC/BEC (20A for 280 geared), wrapped the rcvr in foil = no change.

Amonth ago I ordered a Flash 4 X from a dealer through a magazine. Because I ordered ch.49 it has been sometime , I will call the company I ordered with and get an update on my order. Is there a problem as to why it would take so long to tune a txr to a specific channel? I do use Hitec products quite a lot and have no real complaints with anything except this order problem. Thanks John Z.

Balin- No, but you can use the flapperon setup and still get differential.

Quacker- Currently we have no chargers that are optimized for NiMh cells. However many people are using the CG-330/335's since they are linier. We do have the new 340 duo out soon which will have a NiMh mode. For more info check out: http://www.hitecrcd.com/Hitec_mainFS.htm

Gofli- It never hurts to send something in. If there is any charge to repair it we would let you know.

dave_lilley- Will do, glad to hear it!

smokinjoe- No we don't. For that info contact mailto:tonyo@hitecrcd.com

byoung- No, it's a pulse charge so it is not good for NiMh cells.

warrenp- Yes, they would. 10 amps.

mrtim- http://www.hitecrcd.com/ServSup/warranty.htm The Flash 5 has three separate flight modes and dual rates, it is much more versatile than the 4.

DNA- I've never tried it. I can't say yes, but if the voltage were the same I would think it would work.

VaVol- Some servos are louder than others. If you think there is a problem then send it in and we'll check it out.

Silver- I'll talk to Tony about it.

RonJ- Send it in and we'll check it out.

John Zook- We were out of channel 49 crystals for a while. Sorry! It should be coming soon.

Mike.

Sometimes it takes a while, but once Mike answers the questions here on the board, I always get a great feeling knowing that somebody at the company still takes the time to logon here, read our questions/complaints, and answer them.

Kudos Mike! :) Thanks!

Mike,

You answered my question about a Spectra having Aileron Diff in Acro mode by saying No but it could be done using the flaperons setup.

I have the Flash 5x now. Can I get Aileron Differential in Acro mode on the Flash 5x using the Flaperon setup? If so how? If not is there any other way to do it (using the transmitter that is)?

Thanks, Balin

my hs-55 servos make a buzzing noise. It usually stops when you make them move slightly, but eventually they will start buzzing again.

Hi Mike,

I am practicing on the simulator FMS to decrease the need for repairs to my skyscooter.

1) Is there a SS model for FMS?
2) If not then which model on FMS most closely simulates the SS? I've downloaded just about every model available, even from german URLs. Ich kann deutsch ein bischen.
3) If no FMS model is close than can you get me the needed information so I can create a simulator model. I'll get you a complete list but it is things like thrust, wingspan, surface area, etc.
4) When using an interface cable to use FMS with the Flash 5xg should I remove the crystal? Or is there some way to disable the transmission? I've been told that some other radios disable transmision by grounding or connecting certain pins in the connector.
5) My brand new HS-55 servos are making buzzing sounds. The buzzing stops when a slight movement is put into my transmitter. Normal?
6) I would like to use my AM Focus III transmitter for FMS flight sim. Can you tell me which pin on the IC has the string of pulses out?
Hitec service said they could not help.

Thanks

NOT FEATHER RECEIVER ---Thought my crazy motor glitching was the receiver. Took the Yard Bee to my LHS (Dymond in Oshkosh) and Helmut checked it out. Recommendation #1, Put washers in gear drive to reduce slop. #2 Lube nylon gear drive with lite grease ( like Radio Shacks Archer teflon grease).
#3 Drop from 7 cells (600mah) to 6. Reason- drawing to many amps (mostly friction causing BEC to switch in and out).
And from the "Master" who taught me to fly 23 years ago - wipe off the crystal and apply just a "sminch" of silicone grease to the contacts.
Did above - Fly's great again.
Moral of story- " It ain't always what ya think"
