I purchased RealFlight G2 about 2 months ago and I've been practicing on it ever since so I could get a feel for the sticks and so I could get used to "If I do this, it results in that." I just recently purchased my electronics for my first plane, a Tiger Moth slow park flyer.

My question is can I use my Hitec Flash 5 Tx with RealFlight G2? RealFlight came with an adapter cord that goes from their Tx to what I believe if a Futaba connector. The connector fits the Flash 5 Tx but I haven't tried it yet in fear that it might damage it. I was not able to find anything in the manual. I sent an e-mail to the company but I still have not received a response yet. Any ideas?

I'm not certain either, but I believe it should work. It's the 6-pin DIN connector, right?

Yes. It goes from the RealFlight G2 transmitter to what looks like a 1/8th inch jack. Then there is a cord with the female part of the 1/8th inch jack to the 6 pin din.

My Hitec Flash 5 radio works with G2 and the USB Interlink.

Step 1. Start with nothing hooked up. Plug the Adapter cord (short cord with fat round plug) into the back of the Flash 5

Step 2. Plug the long cord with the square connector into the back of the USB Interlink

Step 3. Plug the two cords together (this connects the TX to the Interlink).

Step 4. Plug the USB cord into the USB slot on the computer.

Step 5. Run Real flight G2

Step 6. Press the ESC key if your top menu bar is missing.

Step 7. Click Options and then choose Controller Calibration.

Step 8. Change Controller type to Interlink Controller (Interface Mode).

Step 9. Turn your radio power switch on (This gets rid of the no radio error message) and select Radio Brand as Hitec and choose Eclipse 7 (Flash 5 is a computer radio with digital trims but is not in the list).

Step 10. Click OK and follow through the auto calibration and get the channels working the correct directions (Some may need to be reversed if you didn't start with a blank program in the radio)

Here is the Flash 5 calibrated and working in RealFlight G2.

When you are done flying, Realflight G2 will prompt you to switch off your radio to save the battery.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Thanks a million Plane Freak. The one thing I forgot to do was to switch the controller type! Now I can get used to using my Flash 5. Mothernature didn't play nice this weekend. (It has been raining all weekend long) I have a 4 day weekend coming up so I'm hoping for some clear skies and no wind so I can fly my Moth.

You are most welcome mcvickj, glad I could help.

I would not use my good radio too much with the simulator as you are wearing out the gimbals. Over a long period of time this might suck.

Fly with the USB Interlink controller most of the time so your Tx stays in good shape and the batteries are charged when you need them to go flying !

Cheers
