Hi folks,
Given that this is a new forum that is supposed to centralize a bunch of far-flung threads from different forums, why don't we make a list of the most relavant ones?
I haven't bookmarked much at work, so I'll just volunteer one that I put together last year
Thread: When a DLG pilot takes up S400 racing...
URL: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117901
Details: -Making pod and small fuse molds
-techniques for reducing flutter in bagged wings
-kevlar/carbon wing structures for s400 pylon racing
Also, I have some old webpages up at the following URL:
http://www.geocities.com/sunbirdz/2002_AeroDesign_Home.html
It details a building project I did a while back when I was first learning to build with composites, so the techniques are a little crude, but they're effective.
I'd recommend the Phil Barnes bagging video for people that are interested (though I still prefer my spar method to his tube spars).
Other recommended molding URLS:
URL: http://www.gliders.dk/
Purpose: Trinitus F3X molding and general molding/bagging links

R&G in Germany has a really nice PDF usage guide with lots of info on mold building, part manufacturing and even designing composite structures based on applied loads and strengths of materials.

Lots of articles here, where most designs are given complete coverage, from concept, to research, to CAD/3D, drawings, and the making of plugs, molds and parts, and finally, test flights. http://www.nextcraft.com

After losing my shirt and going deeply into debt, trying to do fabrication, I'm now completely out of that part of the business. But, I've collected all that data from the past few years, and am selling two CD's for modelers.
The first one "How to do Everything", Volume One, deals with introductory CAD, related to designing and building composite model aircraft.
The second one, "CAD for Modelers", is exactly that. I try and present the material in a generic way, so that intermediate users of any CAD/3D program can use it. More info, including downloadable preview movies, is at http://www.nextcraft.com/nextcraft_products.html
Lots of photos, tips, animations, info on shaders, lighting, structural considerations, RC installation, etc..
I think these will be usefeul to CAD users with an interest in RC model design.
Take care, and happy holidays, everybody.

Here is a video that got me started in Mold Making 15 years ago. Didn't know it still existed - now out on DVD. Gives details of making fiberglass fuzelarges.

Anybody seen a recent copy - I loaned mine out years ago

Jeff is this the video that has the guys backing the mold with sand? If so I am going to get it. I bought the video, and it had a large portion missing, I didn't find this out until I borrowed a friends who subsequently lost it in a fire.
If its that video then it is a worthy purchase, what about the foam wing dvd?

Hi Jay - the video IIRC showed making a production fiberglass mold using resin and cloth - went through the complete process including layup of a scale glider. Some of the polyester resin techniques would not be so applicable today given the availability of epoxy gelcoats etc..
This video would do if the hydrocal mold making video leaves you wanting for more regulat molds.
>Sand backup.. The video I have on making wing molds from IIRC soaring stuff had Fred ? building the freda plane a 3m F3b model. Must of watched it many, many times .. shows what is possible in an ordinary workshop...
almost inspirational:)

some discussion..
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160657
This video and the free rocketworm vid would get anybody (given time and motivation) into molded wings.
>foam cutting and vac bagging... I think Phils video are much more relevant and up to date. These videos were released in late 1980's and the material covered were for me simply mind blowing:D now time and methods have developed and moved on

Picked this one up on the pylon racing forums:D
Composite Q-40 build from masking through molding
http://www.rcpro.org/net/ThreadView.aspx?threadid=623
Photos plus "words and music" building a multicolured gas powered pylon racer in a week using molds.
Gives good detail on using masks and dolphin wax to achieve a detailed painted in the mold finish.
Thanks to Tony Pacini (http://www.rcpro.org/net/MemberProfile.aspx?memberid=78) for the thread
The pylon build forum also has some composite info including mold making
