Hello all! New to this NG, and have a question. I have a Mr Darby Tug, and
am having a problem with the trans. and rec. linking up, I think. The
Receiver is a Futaba FP R127DF 8 channel, and the Transmitter is a Futaba
FP-T7UHF. All electronics are installed in the boat, but when I powered it
up tonight, nothing happened. I have NO experience programming a
Transmitter. This Trans. unit is for a Helicopter, but I thought it should
work for the boat.
The funny thing is when I hold the Trainer Toggle down for a few seconds and
release it, the Props spin , and the Rudders move a little. After that,
nothing.

first, are both trans and receiver the same frequency? and have the same
crystal?

second, the 7uaf trans is PCM capable, is the PCM/FM switch set to FM?, you
state your using a FM Reciever.

I do not know if it is set to FM. I have tried reading the Manual, but it
relates mostly to Helicoptor operation. I'll have another look. Is this
"switch" inside?

Yes, BOTH units have the same Freq. Crystal.

If you are in the US, it may be a civil violation of various FCC
statutes and admin rules to use an "air" (i.e. helicopter) frequency for a
ground (boat or car/truck) application.

Not sure if the same considerations apply in Canada (your ISP has a
"tail" of .ca so you may be in Canada), but I suspect that there are
parallel rules.

More importantly, there is also the issue of possible danger to an air
frequency operator in your vicinity if you are using the same frequency on a
ground unit. You could inadvertently crash a chopper / plane.

You, too, could have interference from a nearby air operation if you
are on an air frequency, but I doubt that would crash / destroy your boat.
Maroon it, maybe, but not crash / destroy it. Whereas signals from your
transmitter could crash a chopper or plane.

I urge you to shift crystals so that your transmitter and receiver are
on a ground frequency.
