I asked this when we were proposing starting this forum and my question was moved over to the general electric area so I'll ask again.

Does anyone know of or have plans for the original Gollywock.

I was sent plans by E-mail for the midwest kit (for which I'm very grateful) but if you look at the plans they were revised April 1946. The plans were drawn buy Lou Vargo then for Midwest.

I have become good friends with Lou Vargo (who's father draw the midwest plan) who says that the original plan showed bamboo wing tips and rudder and those are the plans that can't be found.

Does anybody out there have any information?

Ian- Have you tried Dan Heinrich over at Aerodyne? I think he sells all three versions of Gollywock. Bob Holmon sells a laser cut short kit with plans. Beautiful kit, but its the pre war double rudder version- Jim

I have those plans. The twin rudder version is the VargoWock (guess who modified the Gollywock).

But according to Lou, those are not thee original design, also an article i read in the free Flight Journal (a New Zealand publication) said the same.

Try Allen Hunt. He has a plans site and about 3500 plans or so. If he doesn't have the older version you are looking for, he knows someone who does. He's a VERY nice fellow and helps out where he can. He knows a lot of private collectors of kits & plans and trades with them all over the world. He's found some "hard-ones" for Me a time or two! Hope he can help! Here's a link to his site, You can e-mail him from there. Bob

Before they were kitted there was a magazine plan that showed the bamboo tips. I had a photocopy of it a few years back but if I come across it now it would be more by good luck than good planning. It wasn't a full page plan either. A half page showing the full sized rib and tip outlines and then a smaller simple drawing a la Zaic year book type stuff.. I suspect it came out of Air Trails.

Sorry, not a full answer but at least you have a lead to chase down now
