You got a good deal. Replace anything that breaks or fails.

Yes, that's a great deal. Definitely replace the air filter just to be
on the safe side. That's the only way to be sure you've got a clean,
oiled filter in place. Other than that, run it!!

Might be worth buying a wishbone or two and a pair of front bulk heads and a
spare glow plug. Ive just broken my front R/hand side lower wishbone and it
ripped out a chunk of bulk head bent the wishbone pins and bent the screws
holding the bumper mounting brackets on. hit a kerb at work at 30+mph with
one front wheel oops....... anyway I now have to wait for the delivery man
to make it alright again.

I would think about the RPM arms! I have them on my Maxx and haven't brken
one yet! I broke about 6 stock ones before I got them! VERY durable! I've
hit fences, telephone poles, curbs.... just about everything! No more
broken arms! They come in a few different colors too!
Here's the link from Tower:

That's just the dyeable ones... they have 3 other colors!

I forgot to mention... don't waste your money on Traxxas' titanium hinge
pins... they bend very easily!!! Stick to the stainless ones. I also
haven't broken a bulkhead since installing those RPM arms!!! They take
quite a beating and I believe that RPM will replace them any time if you
break them!!!

Sounds like you got a good deal.
I'd do air filter maintenance and make sure you have charged batts in
your reciever pack before test running.
Manuals, parts lists, and xviews available on www.traxxas.com .

I can't find the article, but a lot of guys mod their brakes to use 2 disks
and 3 brake plates for better braking. Or you can search Tower Hobbies for
an upgraded brake setup.

Also could be misadjusted linkage, contaminants on the brake disc,
worn brake disc, etc.
