View Full Version : how do you stop receiver interference?????

All,

apart from the obvious - don't use two cars of similar frequency close
to each other, ensure your batteries are well charged, run cars in the
open away from other radio signals etc. what other preventative
measures can be taken?. Does all the interference travel into the
receiver via the antenna or are there components in the receiver
circuit that react to outside interference also?. For these
components will shielding or ground them solve the problem - can the
receiver circuit be placed in some kind of cage (i.e. Faraday cage) to
eliminate electro magnetic interference or would this be a waste of
time?. What about additional circuitry being added or additional
"optional" components that are only installed in "more expensive cars"
- does anyone know what these are and how they should be installed?.

Sorry for all the qusestions but hoping someone out there has had my
problems and managed to solve them.

Cheers,
Dan.

On all of our vehicles, just switching to an FM radio system and not
using an AM system made all our interference problems go away.

We use 27 and 75MHZ on FM.

Oh yeah...if running electric vehicles make sure all the motors have
capacitors installed or that the motor's endbells have built in
capacitors.

I use aluminium 'Double Glazing Windows' foil tape .. ;)

If you are running electric, try putting a twist in the wires between your
ESC and motor, and between the battery and the ESC. Just one or two turns is
sufficient. (You twist the positive and neg wires around each other.) This
is not a "snake oil" suggestion. I have personally seen it make a
difference on more than one car. It will help stop any interference coming
from the car's own electrical system.
