Guys I recently upgraded a servo in a Spirit Elite wing and have since noticed that when positioning for launch, as the transmitter antenna gets near the wing, the servo goes nuts. If I hold the antenna back, all is fine. One of the guys in the club mentioned there is a solution here, I think he suggested something along the lines of adding a capacitor between the reciever and servo.

Any ideas appreciated....

Receivers are equipped with an automatic gain control circuit that reduces the receiver gain when the transmitted signal is too strong. The servo leads are acting like an antenna to bring the strong transmitter signal into the receiver by a back door, so to speak, bypassing the automatic gain control circuit and overloading the receiver. You can partially collapse the transmitter antenna while it is close to the servo and reextend it immediately after launch or just keep the transmitter antenna away from the servo and its leads. Many pepole just ignore it without any problems. It tends to be more of a problem for people who use neck straps that make it harder to keep the antenna a few feet away from the servo leads.

Yup, commonly called "swamping" ... it's not unusual.
