View Full Version : Engine question (OS32SX)

OK, it flies.

The engine starts and idles OK at the beginning, runs up smoothly, and
runs fine while flying at all load levels. After landing, as I throttle
back to idle, it abruptly stops. It's done this on every flight. I'm
running it with muffler pressure on the tank.

Suggestions?

Did you remember to set the throttle trim for idle at low stick?

Quick reply as I have flying to do!!!

Richen both the needles, (quarter turn on both at a guess). It's probably
running leaner as it gets hotter. There should be plenty of smoke all through
the range.

If that doesn't work, you could try changing the glow plug, or just increasing
the tickover speed slightly.

Thanks, it seems plenty smoky but I'll richen it a bit. The idle speed
is already high.

Well, it doesn't like being rich! That made it worse.

I think I'll try a genuine OS plug next.

Sorry about that, it's very difficult to diagnose a problem without seeing it
in action. Good luck with the plug, at least you have ruled out lean running
:-)
