Does anyone have a Paramount kit they wouldn't mind parting with? Since I first saw this big (150") sailplane, I have wanted one. I fly with its designer, Ed Slobod (San Fernando Valley silent Flyers) and he says that it is a very fine plane for large-scale sport flying.

It is, basically, an enlarged Paragon. It flys too slow for XC competition which has resolved itself into an out-n-back race.

I want to build it as an electric-launched sailplane. I intend to do it with Ed's advice. I don't know which will be more fun, building the plane or Ed's fine company. Ed says that he made only 36 kits and he is sure that some of them wern't built.

Anyway, if any of you have a kit you wouldn't mind parting with for a good cause ---- please respond. I'd really like to build this plane. :)

Joe:

Are you aware that SoCalGliderFlyer is working on new CAD plans and considering a small run of short kits for the Paramount?

Hello,
I started a thread a month ago, "In search of a paramount", anyway, He is drawing up plans for it by CAD, original version and with modifcations to strengthen up structure with the help from a few guys. Would be neat and he is doing a great job at it.

I heard that!

Mostly done with the redesign. Have to suffel things about then put all the pretty text on it and get some prints made for checking. I find it very difficult to do plans checking on a computer screen -- even if it is 21"!

As to kits. I have access to one of the originals. Possibly the only one left in the box. I also have Ed's original pencil drawings. Huge!!! I also have original canopies.

Here is a shot of the current progress. The framed fuse and wings are the "stock" design. Around them are the updates. Yes even spoilers.

Looks nice SoCalGliderFlyr.

Someone's got to bring some of these old large woodies back. Some of us actually enjoy building woodies and some can't afford $1000 or more for a molded ship. Nevermind the fact that I think most look just plain ugly.

I'm scrambling to get a Sagitta 900 short kit from Dream Catcher Hobbies before they close up shop the end of this month. Left message yesterday but no reply yet.

Tom, just in case they are sold out on the Sagitta's at DCH, RCM Magazine also sells the Sagitta 900 and 600, but PLANS only, and they provide photcopies of the article with it if they had reviewed it.

Old Woodies?? That is a thread all by itself.

Actually I'm doing this for my own selfish motives. I want to build one. Thankfully Ed has given his blessings for doing this.
