nuevo

It's been a few years, but the Mid-South is back in Huntsville, Alabama. The Mid-South is one of the larger thermal duration events in the US. The dates are June 24-27, 2004. We have a new huge flying site for this contest. Flying events are HLG, RES, and Unlimited.
See www.flynasf.org (http://www.flynasf.org) for lots more information.
The MidSouth hotel rooms are in limited supply, due to a convention in town during that same time.
I am the CD for the RES contest, and can answer any general questions you might have, not covered on the website.
Hope to see everyone there!

Hi Charlie,
Nice to hear from you. I remember you came to a contest in Huntsville last year. If I remember right, you had a nice looking new glider then.
Please send in the application as soon as you can. This reserves your frequency in each event among other things. Also helps the organizers in how many folks to plan for.
Gosh, you got me on the age thing. I'll get back to you on that, and get the age posted to the club website.

Charlie,
I just got the official word from our Grand Exalted Poobah of the MidSouth. If you're 60 or older then you can enter the gray cup class.
Flyin' Brian's entering? All I have to say is Yippee! Brian is a super pilot and a super guy.

Thanks to Jon for putting the word out.
Yes, the Mid South Grey cup age cutoff is 60 years old, at the time of the event. I polled some folks and sort of split the difference on ages. If you enter grey cup and win overall I'll get to hand you 2 trophies. It was tempting to set the age at 50 so I'd have a better chance to go home with some wood, but I resisted.
There will be food available at the swimming pool in the park, they have a snack bar setup with burgers and stuff like that. The Saturday evening meal will be catered on the field by a local Cajun restaraunt, they will be serving BBQ pork ribs and trimmings.
The park has a swimming pool, camping, picnic areas, stocked pond, pistol range, and various recreational stuff for your family members who are less than thrilled at the prospect of watching the exciting thermal competition all day for three days.
Looking forward to seeing many folks and having much fun.

Well, I won't be able to make the event but is this a regular club in the Huntsville area?
My Daughter and her Fiance' just moved there and we'll most likely be visiting them sometime later this summer. So, is there a club that flys regularly around Huntsville?

Sorry to be slow witht his info, it takes me a while to find stuff due to my super efficient filing system :-)
Looks like we currently have 10 entries in RES. I expect to get more. It would be a hoot to have 20 - a Level V RES contest.
happy trails - Rob
