Can a full house sailplane be programmed with a 6 channel reciever. Its just a question before I start tearing my hair out.
Jeff
By the way its a 8103 tx and a JR 600 reciever if you need to know

I think so, 1 & 6 are flaps, 2 and 5 are ailerons and 3 & 4 is the tail.
Jeff, you need to change your location on your profile :)

yep, six servos ,six ch,,although its nice to have an extra chanel port on the rx for a seperate rx battery but even that can be done with a Y harness
i have a 6 servo ,e-glider with an eight ch rx ,i use 7 ch`s [one for the esc] and the extra for the rx battery

Save yourself a whole bunch of trouble, and buy a 7 channel receiver , either JR700 or Hitec 7 or 8 channel. The dual flaps on a JR are programed to work on channels 6 & 7 in sailplane mode. The ailerons are set up on 2 & 5, the rudder is channel 4, elevator is channel 3. You can do it with six channels, by using a bunch of free mixes and plugging into channel 1 & 6 for flaps. The radio is beautifully set up for using at least 7 channels to fly unlimited sailplanes, and 8 channels for unlimited electric sailplanes. Even if you program the plane to work from a 6 channel receiver, you will be missing the switch and stick assignments that make the radio great for unlimited sailplanes. I have and fly three 8103s. I use a 6102 for park flyers and other small electrics. Bill G.

I do have a jr 700 reciever but this is for my son and the 700 is on 50mhz. he doesnt have a ham ticket so 5 want to put it on one of the recievers that is on 72 mhz in his sailplane. Ill try the 6 channel and if it wont work Ill buy a 7 channel for him.
Thanks guys

I had a Futaba 6XAS that I used for my Spirit Elite a while back. It did most things o.k., nothing really great. The radio was more the problem than it having 6 channels. As long as you have a decent TX with good mixing and some free mixes you should be o.k....I ended up trading in my Futaba for an 8103...much happier now :)

There are several useful links about programming your 8103 for sailplanes here.

Go to www.orlandobuzzards.org and select soaring tips. Here you will find a great dissertation on programming JR radios. The programming isn't 8103 specific, however there is little diffrence.
