Used a 35mm slr camera "bayonet" type mount to make removeable Tail booms or swappable nose sections? I.e. to go from pure glider to electric? I keep looking at these things and think to myself, I think....SELF....there has to be a use for these things in our hobby. You would have to reduce the diameter, but the quick clean functionality would make a great way to quickly disconnect the aft or forward portion of a fuselage.

Being a machinist, it seems that making such a mounting arrangement would be possible, but hardly worth the effort. There are much easier ways to make a section of the fuselage removable, and they avoid the problems inherent with a section that must be rotated to lock in place.
