Urs,

Well, I guess that I must also say ditto. I'm here in Jacksonville, Florida, USA where the sun (almost) always shines.

Blimps are a off-shoot of my modeling interests. I was stationed once at NAS Lakehurst, NJ which was their main base at the time. I have the fuselage and bag materials for one that's been hanging in the shop for YEARS waiting for me to get around to work on it.

What is your area of interest?

HERE! HERE!

Raised in Akron Ohio, watched my Dad go to work every day in the shadow of THE AIRDOCK!
Missed my one and only chance for a Goodyear blimp ride in 1976, lost my seat to Gov. Rockefeller (sp?)
Now producing 13' indoor advertising blimps. $5995.00 complete, ready to go in a convenient shipping case, three battery packs (54 minutes of flying time out of every hour) charger, radio, fill valves and ballast.

Works Great buy one today!

I did a small article in the slowflyers a few months back. Go search on the RC Turbo blimp you can buy for $30 at Wally world. (Went on clearence.. :( )

I have plans to hack the kit, but I'm moving, in school, and generally don't have much time to do anything. I was going to take the envelope and motors out of the kit. Then make my own pod with a feather reciever/micro servos and make a full function blimp. (I.E. Hovers up/down ,ect...) I was thinking of powering it with a 9v with it's case stripped. I also bought a pixie 7-P just waiting to be installed. I figured if all else goes wrong I can always build a light stick.. :D

As a side note, if I can't get enough lift from the original balloon, I was thinking that I could get some double sided tape and stack on another similarly shaped balloon from a party store. (Wrap the whole shabang with some milar, just for looks).. It's not like this things going outside or anything! Interestingly enough the balloon most shaped like a blimp is a large 3CP-O head... ROFL..

Any ideas would be welcomed.

Buildin blimps from available balloons works too. *large, mylar *circular balloons stacked into a big, white trash bag tied at both ends and filled with air might work.. *a semi rigid design so you can have air pressure and tape on a gondola to the bag with the balloons within. *set up so that the mylars are *stacked*face to face..*

Fellow Helium Heads,
Not being a blimp pilot (1 to 1 scale), I had to have something to tease the guys who were about.

My story was that they didn't want people to know that they were so qualified. The only thing these guys did was to putter along the NJ beaches oggling the girls and sun bathing on top of the blimp, not like real pilots. The only way you could tell who was was to capture the guy and pull the back of his shirt collar down. If he was poopybag qualified, you would find a HE fill valve implanted there. I have flown models in the past at Perry GA and it was fun. Rode in the Bud Blimp and enjoyed the heck out of that (no free beer tho).
