Well i just realized i have a bunch of nokia ACP-7U chargers, which have output of 3.7V 350 mA.
My voltmeter says it has more like 8+ V output, but i guess it would drop under load.
I think this charger and beefed up Suzanne's balancer would make fine 1 cell lipo charger?
Fine for slow charging of smaller packs , or even large ones.
Guys -check your old cell chargers, you may find something useful!;)

Wouldn't you need a 4.2v or little higher voltage charger for LiPoly? Sounds like a good idea. Do you have a photo of your charging setup?

Howard-as i have mentioned it outputs arround 8V, with no load, but im still Nimh and Nicd guy:) No lipos here, although i had my finger on the "order " button a few times;)

Hovertime.......Whatever charger you attempt to use, make absolutely SURE that it's charging performance produces 4.2 volts highly peak float regulated per LiPo cell + C/ 0.7 to c 1.0 charging current cell/pack regulation ...There is NO way arround this electronic control with short-cut methods....Once you have a correct, suitable LiPo charger ....Suzanne's stock, as produced LiPo Balancers will do all that required to maintain > 1 multi-cell series connected packs.....A single, 1 cell charger, as far as i can tell doesn't require a "balancer" if using a correct performing charger....... kw

But, after more thinking over your suggestion....a beefed-up higher current sinking mod'd ("stronger than the charger's current out-put) LiPo balancer(s) could at least clamp the charger's voltage to the required 4.20 volts per cell but that could still leave the regulated current problem if the charger tried to charge discharged cells too fast at > C 1 rate ......The simple arrangement could be made to work with a carefull approach.......
