Are there any good websites that have pictures of the patterns, I don't know if that is the correct term, you guy are always talking about. Obviously I know what a "loop is" but what is a "cuban 8" and some of the others?

A Cuban 8 is a cigar somewhere between 7 and 9 inches long.

Welcome to RC Groups

I'm going to move this to the appropriate forum - which interestingly enough is entitled

"Don't know the difference between a Cuban 8 and a Figure 9? Trying to figure out how to do a torque roll? Find out here."

where you'll likely receive hints and tips on how to achieve the perfect Cuban 8

from straight and level flight, pull up into 5/8 of a loop, then execute a 1/2 roll, (you'r on a 45 degree downline at this point), then do a 3/4 loop and a 1/2 roll, (again, you're on a 45 degree downline at this point, the roll should intersect the previous roll), then pull up into level flight again on the same heading you entered.

You can find the diagrams of the various aerobatic maneuvers (Aresti diagrams) in lots of places, here's one good source:

http://www.mini-iac.com/DesktopDefault.aspx

A web search on Aresti diagrams should get you lots of others too.

For details on how to actually perform them, and excellent information on setting up a plane properly, try this book:

A cuban eight is just like doing a Split S at both ends of the strip.

Start at the dot, end at the vertical line. The arrows are where you roll inverted. The dotted line means you are inverted.

What you have described there Paul is a reverse cuban eight. Don't give the man duff information

Its right, its just a cuban eight as if you were doing it with the wind coming
from the right instead of the left.

If you start from the dot the roll is in the up line! In a cuban eight the roll is after the loop. You are describing a reverse cuban.

 The link you provided even says it's for a reverse cuban 8. A 'Split S' is something else entirely :o

As for your later post. Wind direction has nothing to do with the sequence of events that make this manoeuvre.

A 'Split S' out of interest is a half roll to inverted from level flight followed by a half loop to level flight. A nice turnaround manoeuvre that trades height for speed.

hi heres a detailed pic of cuban 8 and instructions......
Enter with the wings level. Fly a straight level line and throttle up to full then pull up into a 5/8 loop. Come down the 45° line inverted, reduce power, and half roll on center line. Pull up into a 3/4 loop at full power. Come down the 45° line inverted, reduce power and half roll over the center line. Pull a 1/8 loop to exit, and exit with the wings level. You can also fly the cuban eight the other way around. Starting from where on the diagram is the exit. It's just the opposite of this.
hope it works well

As I remarked in a previous post if you fly this maneuvre the other way round it becomes A REVERSE CUBAN!!!!!!!!
