I purchased Reflex today and I also tried to order the upgrade but, it tried to charge me $29.00 for shipping. I was under the impression that shipping was free for the upgrade. Am I wrong on this? I have written Reflex but no response yet. Thought someone here could answer.

Hmmm... I think you tried to order from the wrong "Update".. Try it here (http://www.reflex-sim.dyndns.org/reflex-sim/shop/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=76&language=en).. :)

I am pretty sure I did that page. I put it in my cart and when I finished it showed $0.00 for cost and $29.00 for shipping. Are they going to forgo the charges?

Hmmm.. That is interesting... I just tried it, up to the point of confirming the order and it didn't add the shipping... When did you order? If you put in your order during the first few days after Wolfgang announced the release of the XTR upgrade, there was a problem with the shopping cart where it added the shipping cost. Wolfgang has said that the shipping charge will be waived for those early orders.

Maybe that is it. I did it this time and it did not add it. Is it shipping now or does it put me on a waiting list?
Thanks for the help.
One more thing. Do you know what the normal channel assignments should be for the helis in the sim?

As long as you ordered the upgrade, it will be sent to you when it is ready to be shipped... Last I heard on the forums is that they are putting in the english translation for the menus/interface and should probably be shipping in the next few weeks.
Channel assignments on heli for the sim depends on which mode you are using on your tx. If you have your tx in airplane/aero mode, then you'll just need to assign the four channels as follows:
Channel 1: Aileron
Channel 2: Elevator
Channel 3: Pitch
Channel 4: Tail rotor
The standard heli models on Reflex are govenor controlled for the throttle by default and is the only way you can fly the model if you have an aircraft/aero only tx.
If your tx has heli mode, then you can turn off the govenor mode in the model by unchecking the "governor" setting and checking the "Transmitter mixing pitch -> throttle". You need to set your heli mode to SWH1, i.e. independant aileron, elevator, pitch. You then need to change the channel settings to:
Channel 1: Aileron
Channel 2: Elevator
Channel 3: Throttle
Channel 4: Tail rotor
Channel 5: Gyro sensitivity
Channel 6: Pitch
Make sure you calibrate center for your tx and adjust the end points to -100% to +100% for all channels, EXCEPT Channel 3, throttle, which should be approx. -85% to +85%. If you have Channel 3 going from -100 to +100, then the motor will "die" when you reduce the throttle beyond approx. -85% and won't "restart". See the english Reflex manual here (http://www.reflex-sim.de/english/help/index.htm) for additional reference.

Nope, XTR is going to be 650MB and Wolfgang has decided it would be cheaper to send out CDs rather than spend the money on bandwidth.. :)
However, there is a copy of the XTR Beta on the P2P networks. I know this isn't officially sanctioned by Wolfgang, but I figure that this should make the wait for the official version of XTR much more bearable. :p
Try searching on eDonkey or Overnet.. ;)

I assume that XTR part wont work unless you have the original Reflex? I'm just wondering how they know who to ship it to and who not to. I just ordered the new XTR upgrade, but it didn't ask me for a code number or Prof of purchase for the original Reflex.
P.S
Did I order it the right way? When it asked me for payment method, I clicked on download and not PayPal. Did I do It right? Thanks

From what I have read. They will ship it to who ever asks for it but they did request that you have the frist one before requesting this update. The update will only work with the USB cable supplyed with Reflex so there is really no point in having the update it if you don't have Reflex.
my 2 cents.
BTW i'm downloading that beta as we speak off Overnet :)

You need the original Reflex USB cable to run Reflex v4.02/4.03 or XTR. Reflex WILL NOT work without the cable. Ordering Reflex gets you a CD and the very important USB cable. You can't order the cable separately since that is the copy protection for the Reflex software.
