I decided to make the change from glo to electric. My plan was to buy a Yardstick, fit it with foam pontoons and enjoy some pond flying. I just finished it and on the first test fligh (without pontoons), I found it to be very much underpowered. After about 10 seconds of flight it starts to loose altitude. Can anyone help me with a knowledgeable suggestion on a good size motor, battery pack and esc for the job. I'm not looking for high performance just something that has enough power to go where you want it to go with ease.
I have a Tsunami 280 Brushless, with a 1200, Lipo pack that I am putting in a Herr Manuf. Piper cub J3. Would this be a good combination for the Yardstick?

What is the stock setup that is underpowered?

If I recall the YS is a built up Slow Stick size plane.

The plane was flown in its stock form with a Hitec micro 555 Rx, 2 HS 81 servos, a Great Planes C 10 ESC and a 650Mah Nimi batter pack (the pack suggested in the ad) The motor used was the motor that came with it.

I have since swaped the motor for a Typhoon 06 brushless, Tsunami 10 ESC and a 1200Mah Li Po and I can't tell you what a difference. It is like the difference between night and day

It is disappointing that a big company like Great Planes would market a kit that is so inadaquately underpowered. I contacted them and they refused to do anything about it.
