Hi all,

I finished my new Delphin a couple of months ago and finally took some pictures of it.

This is my first kit. I have a Delta that I bought from Antoine L. but I am still has a few leaks that I am working on. So the moment the lake thaws out (June?), I will get to maiden my first sub :)

Before I show the pictures, here are a few details:
- My first kit
- Had a lot of fun building it
- Antoine L. made me a great instruction manual with a lot of picures. This manual is better than most of the manual I received with commercial airplane kits. Thanks Antoine!
- I higly recommend this kit to newbies. Of course, you should contact Antoine for a copy of the manual...
- I did not try and make a scale replica (artistic license)

So, here are a few pictures:

The first is of the Delphin waiting for spring...

Here is a picture of my Delphin in front of my 'portable dry dock', i.e. the transport stand and box used to get it from the condo to the lake...

I have ultra bright LEDS:
- 2 white (10 000 mcd) in front to see where I am going
- 2 red (8 000 mcd) in the back so that the subs behind don't bump into me
- 2 blue (5 000 mcd) in the cockpit to illuminate the instrument panel

Same with ambiant lights off...

Front view, notice the back LEDS illuminating my stereo system... Notice also the brave and handsome pilot....

Ok, ok... last picture... Here it is top view, all lights on. As you can see, I am very happy with my lighting work... I especially like the instrument panel glow and the way the red LEDS in the back are recessed into the fuselage for a clean aerodynamic finish...

Nice looking sub! Thats a dynamic diver isnt it?

Thanks, yes, it is a dynamic diver... From what I read about this model, it is very fast. Looking forward to trying it... I have an electronic leveler inside to keep nice and straight at high speeds...

Now if we can just get the temperature around above freezing and melt all that ice...

Yellow Delphin looks great.

One question:
How do you power the LEDīs?

How many volts?
From the main power source?

greetings from Austria

Hi Jimi,

Nice Delphin! I powered my LEDs from the main power. My LEDs are connected to an electrnoic switch that is activated by my radio. So I can flip the lights on or off from the radio. These LEDs vay in voltage from 1.5 to 2 volts (the 3 different colours require different voltages and current). The voltage is indicated with the LEDs when you buy them. I got mine from www.superbrightleds.com

Those LED's look sweet. What a great idea !

Yellow........It's a bright color.......I like it.

Yep, I am extremely happy with this sub. Turns out I am using it at nigh now, it's soooo sweet!

I'm also happy with the yellow. I dive in a regular deep, dark lake and this helps me see what I'm doing during the day. Of course, at night I have enough candlepower to go far and deep without losing sight of it...

I'm so happy, turned out perfect... :)

Great work there! It looks like you'll have fun with that as long as you can keep the lake runny.
Jason
PS It's beem between 27 and 43 celcius here in Australia. Mildura had 46 on New Years Eve!!
No ice except in the drinks!!!

Yep, well it ain't runny now...

Although today is +3 celcius, we've been tin the -10 to -20 for the last month or so. My subs are in drydock waiting for spring, for now I'm using the frozen lake as an airfield for my planes...

The LED is a current dependant device and really does not care about the source voltage so long as it is high enough to overcome the drop of the device. As long as you have 3.5 volts or more you can power pretty much any single LED. Just limit the current to 20 mA with a series resistor and you're good to go.

Ex: got 12 volts...12V/20mA=600 ohm resistor in series with the diode.
