As cool power seems harder and harder to get hold of in the UK is their a
good substitute I can use in my raptor? I currently run 10% nitro and this
seems to work just fine for me, I just cant seem to buy it any where!

Harry, I too have a Raptor - mine is a 30V2 with TT39 Pro-H engine.
I used Coolpower 10% at first but now use Bekra 10% by Model Technics as my
local shop stopped selling Coolpower. At first this appears to cost slightly
more (I pay about £17 a gallon), but you get an imperial gallon rather than
a US one...
Works fine for me.

Get hold of Southern Modelcraft. They have several blends for helis and
will make just about anything you want. I use their 20/20 in a variety of
engines (ML70 oil) with no problems. If you pick it up from them at their
shop or at the shows you can get great prices! The 20/20 I get is very
similar to Powermaster in the US.

Yep, this is what I have been offered by my model shop to try. It seems to
foam a lot more readily than cool power did but I will give it a try in the
heli tomorrow. Like you say, at least you get "proper" gallon!

What is it people dislike about coolpower? I have found it fine in my raptor
with the OS engine, I have nothing to compare it against but it certainly
seems consistent and clean.

I haven't had any problems with the fuel foaming - I wonder if you've got
something out of balance, leading to excessive vibrations?
The thing I will say about Bekra is that it smells very soapy...

Thanks Tim,
i havent tried it in the model yet i just gave the bottle a good shake to
see what happened, its like bubble bath! i will reserve judgement until i
have put it through the engine. Its blowing a gale here today so i think i
will burn a few "virtual gallons" on the sim!

Bekra 10%. Smells soapy because it contain a detergent.
Great stuff, stings your eyes though if you stand in the smoke plume.

Since you have nothing to compare it against, you wouldn;t know how much
better a great fuel can run. One problem with Cool Power is the low oil
content. Heli engines live and die by cooling and low oil content takes
away a lot of the safety margin.

Is there a website for Coolpower that lists the content %'s of their various
mixes?

No. That is a carefully guarded secret. Some people have done the evap
test and found 12% or less.
