Hi Queensland sailplane and electric enthusiast,

This is pretty much an update of a thread I did a month or so ago, about gliding / electric assist gliding clubs in Qld.

Well I have decided on moving to Hervey Bay or the surrounding areas, from Sydney. My problem is that I have found a website that deals with rc clubs in Qld:

www.qarm.com.au/maaq/Club_Listings.htm

And I have called a few in the HB area (namely "FRASER COAST R.C ASSOCIATION." , but I still have to call "MARYBOROUGH AEROMODELLERS CLUB Inc" + "SUSAN RIVER MODEL AERO CLUB") BUT I have been told that they are I/C clubs, and I need a gliding club that is close by. Like not further than Bundy or Rainbow Beach. If people slope at Rainbow beach surely there has to sloper fliers closeby, or do they venture from down from Brissy.

MORETON REGION SPORTS SOARING ASS Inc., is too far away + so is MALENY R/C GLIDING CLUB (is it safe going up the side of that slope in a van??? ). Also I need thermal flying as well as sloping.

Surely there has to be something close to Hervey Bay that can let me fly gliders and electrics???

Cheers,
Glen

Glen - maybe call the hobby shops to ask about clubs? I know Gavin at Hobbyrama slopes at Rainbow, and he might know if a club meets there (you could ring Hobbyrama at Stafford in Brisbane and ask for Gavin). I don't know the hobby shops north of Brisbane.

I've tended to find clubs, people etc via these sorts of contacts (notices left in shops mostly, plus asking staff).

Sorry I can't be more helpful. The ic club on Brisbane's northside (PRAMS) might have some suggestions.

Good luck

Peter

Thanks Peter,

There is a hobby shop in Bundy that I know of that may be of some assistance.

I'll ask around a bit when I get up there :)

Cheers,
Glen
