Greetings all.

Ok, the nostalgia bug bit me and I bought an original gold tub RC-10
on ebay. After cleaning, new tires/bearings body etc... It's back in
action, but I'm having some performance problems I was hoping someone
could advise me on.

It's quite fast, hooks up nice and is handling great.. but it's the
run time that is in the toilet. And when I say it's fast, it's
decent... not earth shattering. A bit faster than my buddies juiced
up hornet with an old Dymond motor, but his lasts exactly twice per
battery run. I think it ought to be faster (haven't dinked with any
motor timing yet), and I'm thinking it's the speed control that might
be the culprit, but I dunno. Weight doesn't seem to be that much of an
issue, as my car is heavier but not by alot.
Anyway, here's what I have in the little beast at the moment.

* All ball bearings front to back
* Team Orion 11 Turn Rush motor, which has a fresh cut comm & good
brushes.
* Old school Novak T4 electronic speed control
* New 7.2v 1700 MAH Nicad battery packs.
* 18 tooth pinion

If anyone has any suggestions (Novak setup?) I would be most
appreciative.

Ultimately, I would LOVE to convert it to gas power. I know, I know...
it would be easier to go buy a rtr nitro car. However, easier doesn't
always mean more fun. If anyone has any specific info on conversions,
please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

At a guess i would say you need a more powerfull battery. Or your battery is
not getting fully charged.

I had one of the Old Graphic Editons, and I use running a 11T Speed Gem
Topaz, with a novak 610-HRV(same specs as the T4 but with Rev) and cheap
Duratrax 1800 packs. On a full charge running hard the pack would last
about 3 1/2-4 mins. I switched to a 2200 pack and got about 5 mins run
time, with the motor and esc, if you use a matched 3300 pack, you should be
getting about 8-11 mins run time. Also is he running the same equip as you?
he could be running on a stock or mid 19T motor which should almost double
your run time.

Hope this Helps.

What size spur gear is on the car? and how hot is the motor after a run? You
could be overgeared or have the mesh set wrong. If I remember correctly they
had a 72 tooth spur as standard, that (if you have a non Stealth
transmission, 6 gears inside it) times 2.5 (the internal ratio of the
gearbox) is 10:1, with a Stealth that is a 9:1 ratio overall (2.25 internal
ratio).
