View Full Version : The Shuttle is dead, Long Live the ?????

Well, my 12 year old Shuttle ZXX went in today. Nothing worth salvaging
except the engine, radio and some aftermarket metal parts.

So what should I replace it with?

I would like to use my existing OS32FH unless there's a good engine +
airframe package deal going.

PS I think Raptors are terminally ugly, but an aftermarket canopy could
fix that.

The new Hirobo Evolution.
Many of the parts are interchangeable with your Shuttle.

The V2 is quite funky IMO

Are you ready for this John?? A Raptor Version 2. MUCH better than the
Shuttle and much cheaper to keep flying than the later versions/replacements
for the Shuttle too.

The OS ill drop right into a Rap 30V-2

Or a half decent paint job.

How much cheaper could it get? I think I spent about $75 in maintenance
over the last 3 years (blades and boom). It WAS twelve years old.
Probably didn't spend more than $300 over the entire 12 years, except
for when I replaced a Futaba mechanical gyro with a CSM400.

Yeah, and that was the OLD Shuttle, the NEW ones aren't quite so cheap to
maintain (or buy spares for)

It WAS twelve years old.

Time it went in the bin then:)

You're not flying enough.

OK, I looked at a R30 Version 2 in the store today. It still looks like
it fell off an ugly tree, but nevermind... How will it perform with an
OS32SX (which is what I have available right now)? The guy in the store
seemed to think it would be anaemic and needs a .50.

It depends on what style of flying you do John. If you're into "normal"
aerobatics, it'll be just about Ok, (although I wouldn't actually fit an
OS32, I'd use one of the bigger "30's" like the TT 39.

With a 50, it'll do ANYTHING you can throw at it and I don't think the price
difference should make the 50 a no-no.

Getting a 30, then later on buying the 50 conversion kit, plus another
engine is the long expensiver route.

Don't forget, the 50 will suck more fuel snd give you less "in flight" time.

Hi John,

I recently purchased a Raptor 30 V2 with the 39TT motor. I am at a
rather high ultitude so the air is rather thin. So far I have not
experinced any lack of power...

This kit itself is fantastic. It really comes together nicely without
any gliches. I was surpised at the quality when the price is so
reasonable.

Hope this sways your opinion a little, you will not regret it...

Regards
James
