I have a powersupply, that looks like it is from some kind of big computer, it has two(2) 12volt 10 A outputs and one(1) 5 volt at 60 A.

Can I connect the two 12 volt suppllies in parralel to get 20 A. ?

Greetings, Rudolf.

You would normally need some kind of balancing circuit to connect two power supplies together for increased current. Power supplies are not perfect, so the two 12 volt outputs will not be exactly the same. If you connect them together, the one with the higher voltage will supply most of the current, while the one with the lower voltage will supply little or no current.

Thank you, Jeff.

it is a good thing that I asked!

If you are saying that you have one supply with two 12V outputs, they may be from a common 12V regulated source inside. This means that you could likely hook them together without a problem. To check this, you can put an ohmmeter between each of the two +12V leads WITH THE POWER OFF and if the ohms read about zero, you can try it.

Thank you, I tried it just now. There is no connection between the two supplies inside.
