Any one know what a sqaure drive is ? How is it different to a round drive?

It's a tool/fastener interface along the lines of phillips, slotted,
Torx, etc. I don't know that there is any such thing as "round drive"
(it would have a hard time gripping, if there were).

Try google.

the cable is round and on one end it is crimped square. The other end is
soldered, preferably with silver solder, into a coupling on the prop shaft.
The square end fits into a coupling on the engine. Actually, some engines do
accept round shafts not squared off, they have a collet that tightens to the
round shaft of the cable.

If your familiar with a speedometer cable, about 1/8", the drive cable for
boats is the same but larger, usually 3/16" or 1/4" "NAV"
