I'm curious - what kind of hovercraft do you have??? My wife picked up
a hovercraft for me for Christmas, but it would get stuck on just about
anything and I ended up returning it. I would really like to get
another hovercraft (if I can find one that works well!) but after doing
some searching I can't find anything that I really like.

Thanks!

My first intro to RC was a 3 meter (about a 6 ft. wingspan) powered glider.
It was fun to fly, but after a few crashes and re-builds, I decided to get
something that was already ON the ground, like a car/truck. Been hooked ever
since.
Now that I'm a little older, (and not so much wiser) I have been looking at
planes as well. I think I could re-learn and hopefully improve my flying
skills.
The problem is... now I got a wife.
First question would be:
"How much did THAT cost?"
She is pretty cool about my spending to feed my RC habit... except every time I
spend X-amount of $$ on R/C stuff... out comes the credit card and SHE feels
It's OK to go out and spend an equal or greater amount on herself.
How many sets of clothes, shoes, and jewelry does a woman need anyway???
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I have taken to hiding my RC expenses by paying
CASH at the LHS rather than ordering online. That way, there isn't a paper
trail for her to see.
It would be kinda hard to hide a 6-foot airplane from her. :-(

I am addicted, pray for me.

No wonder us Yanks don't get the metric system- I was sure 3 meters was a
little over 9 feet. :>) I've recently purchased a couple of small slow park
flyers. Quite a bit of fun.

OOps, you're right. The glider was a 2 meter... somewhere near 6 ft wingspan.
3 meters would be a real monster.
Anyway I had a lot of fun building, flying, crashing and re-building that
thing.
Sooner or later, it was gonna become too heavy to fly anymore, with the added
weight of all that glue. ;-)

I'm in a situation like you with the expenses hehehehe.

With the RC Gliders, why not try one of those "flying wing" foam sloap
soarers. They go like stink and are almost indestructible.

Lighter servos and Lipoly packs. My RC education took a dramatic turn when i started into
..air. An inexpensive GWS "nano" servo is smaller than a postage stamp, maybe $15 usd, and
15oz/inch
Lipolys have almost 4times the Mah per oz than Nimh, at only twice the price.

At this point im interested in where the two shall merge.

Whos gonna be driving Lipolys at the next ROAR nats?
Wanna talk about brushless? forget novak - go to the .air group. There are maybe 200
different brushless motor sizes and winds to suit you.

Skied since i was three. Kids were born - havent skied since. Mark my words...

screw the kits. I want to build one too-eventually- but planes are different. A car you
KNOW you can drive. Parts are replaceable. Airplane kits are rarely more than a one-shot
deal. Thats why i got the Slowstick. She has taken a horrendous beating. Damage estimates
in the twentys of dollars. crashed maybe 40 times.
The balsa kits come later. Well after the "Learning Curve"
Anybody interested and i'll hook you up with links.

Perfect. That and your Nimh charger and your airborne for $130 depending on the batteries
you get.

The Hovercraft I have is an old SLEC kit...powered by a .40 Engine....I have
modified the top as it looked like an r/c lawnmower...!!!
I picked it up from my local model shop having seen it sat there for a few
months and got it for £20 including the engine ( a very fine russian MVVS 40
diesel I might add)...this engine is now in my largest plane with matched
tuned pipe and gives superb performance.
Regards..............Mark
