It seems that when I fly my Slowstick powered by a Nippy 0808 with a stalled prop (static on the ground) I seem to get better wind penetration on windy days. Does this make sense or is it my imagination? David L.

If you mean that its a coarse pitchg prop, yes, thats normal. A lot of GWS setups have a lot of thrust but run out of puff at quite slow flying speeds. Going to a smaller diameter coraser pitched prop nets you maybe less climb, but better top speed.
I have an IPS unit with '2' gearing - it can fly on 7x6, or 8x4.7. Both climb well, but the 7x6 is far far better in the wind.
