I'm new to this, so I've tried to limit myself to skating around the
back lot at work a with my JR Venture. It was calm but cold on the
weekend & I got a bit too confident. The cheap electrical tape holding
on the training gear started to split one stick at a time at about
15ft up. I brought it down safely with one corner hanging on by a
thread. I'm not bragging...in fact, I was shaking like a leaf for
15min! THIS IS THE MOST FUN I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME! Needless to say,
I got some good ties. I'm learning more every day from you guys &
appreciate all (well, most) of what you have to share.

Why not use plastic cable ties called "Tyraps" or plain wire-ties?

Congrats on getting into trouble then out of it :-))). It does build the
confidence, thats for sure. You could perhaps consider rubber bands for the
training gear, as they will stretch and finally break if you did ever have a
bit of a calamity. keep going.... :-)

Watch out for cheap cable ties because I had a similar experience with cable
ties as only 0C. The cable ties went brittle in the cold and cracked. I lost
one leg and had to land on three at a tilt, I wasn't sure what was going to
happen when I reduced the collective and all the weight was resting on the
remaining legs. Luckily the heli did not tip over and it survived the ordeal
undamaged. I suggest you test the cable ties in the cold before use.
